Position: Preschool Bus Driver CDL Class B
We are now accepting applications from caring, dedicated Preschool CDL Driver. We are specifically looking for those with an Early Childhood Education background. We are currently very interested in candidates who have a CDL license. Ensure safe and orderly transportation of students on assigned route. Operate a school bus that transports students and other authorized personnel to and from schools or other designated locations.
Starting Salary: $18-$19/hour
Shift Hours Needed: 6:30 AM to 8:30 AM and then from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM.
Job Responsibilities
  • Participates in special events, field trips, and special programs.
  • Becomes familiar with state regulations and inspection procedures and policies and procedures as outlined in the staff handbook.
  • Foster a nurturing classroom culture where children feel loved, valued, and supported
  • Model faith-based values and positive behavior while guiding routines and expectations
  • Follow assigned route and adhere to established schedules.
  • Check bus for mechanical defects before and after each operation and notify supervisor of needed repairs.
  • Report all accidents, vehicle damage, student injuries, and mechanical failures. Complete required reports.
  • Keep assigned bus clean and fueled.
  • Supervise students while they board and leave the bus and cross the street.
  • Communicate with teachers and parents on a daily basis regarding student behavior while on bus.
  • Maintain discipline; report student discipline problems to appropriate administrator.
  • Instruct students on safe riding rules and regulations.
  • Observe all traffic laws and safety regulations for school buses.
  • Inspect bus by checking fuel, oil, water, tires, lights, brakes, and steering to ensure bus can be operated safely before driving.
  • Ensure proper condition of emergency equipment, such as first aid kit, fire extinguisher, flags, fuses, crow bar, and reflector.
  • Correct unsafe conditions in work area that could cause an accident and inform supervisory of any conditions that are not correctable immediately.
  • Report any hazardous conditions along the route.

Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Meets HHS and DFPS caregiver qualifications (age, background check, medical clearance, annual training)
  • Previous teaching or childcare experience (preferred)
  • Early Childhood Education coursework or certification (preferred)
  • Pediatric First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain) (preferred)
  • Valid Texas commercial driver's license (Class B)

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift/move up to 40 lbs as needed
  • Maintain clear visual and auditory supervision of children
  • Maintain emotional control. Continual sitting, reaching, and repetitive hand and arm motions. Work outside and inside; moderate exposure to extreme temperature (hot) and vehicle fumes.
