Position Description
The Department of Civil, Urban, and Environmental Engineering (CUE) at the NYU Tandon School of Engineering invites applications for part-time, non-tenured instructors, with a start date of January 1, 2027.
The CUE department offers BS degrees in Civil Engineering and Environmental Engineering; MS degrees in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, and Transportation Systems; and PhD degrees in Civil Engineering and Transportation Systems.
Qualifications
Qualifications, Responsibilities, and Expectations
We invite applicants to teach one or more graduate or undergraduate courses. In particular, we seek instructors to teach sections of CE-GY 7233 Groundwater Hydrology and Pollution and CE-GY 7753 Environmental Systems Management. Graduate courses are generally scheduled in the evenings to accommodate full-time work schedules. Strong candidates will have a PhD in Environmental Engineering or Civil Engineering (or a closely related discipline) and a record of teaching experience in the broad areas of hydrology or environmental systems.
General responsibilities for this position include preparing in-person lectures, grading homework and exams, and holding weekly office hours for student support. Additionally, it is expected that instructors will maintain a conducive learning environment, provide timely feedback and assessments, utilize technology effectively, and adhere to all institutional policies and guidelines.
