Description/Job Summary
This position is responsible for providing instruction to K-5th grade students enrolled in the Refugee Youth Project's after-school program at Moravia Park Elementary School. Responsibilities include teaching, development of instructional materials, student assessment, and following student record keeping processes and procedures.
Responsibilities/Duties
Essential Job Functions:
  • Provide enrichment programming and supplementing academic instructions for K-5th grade students
  • Implement and teach a 2-hour lesson to students
  • Integrate community volunteers into the classroom, supervising and utilizing their presence effectively
  • Maintain a positive learning environment
  • Ensure the safety of students at all times; adhere to all CDC and City School protocols regarding Covid-19
  • Maintain the organization and cleanliness of classrooms and other spaces
  • Maintain punctuality, attendance, and provide notification to supervising staff when appropriate
  • Attend trainings, events, and meetings for after school programs (occasionally outside of regular hours)
  • Keep records for program in accordance with requirements

  • Knows the formal and informal departmental goals, standards, policies and procedures as it relates to student advancement for the division and the college at large. Is sensitive to the interrelationship of both people and functions within the department.

Decision Making:
  • On a regular basis, exercises judgment and assumes responsibility for decisions, consequences, and results having an impact on people and quality of services within the functional area.

Communication:
  • Exchanges non-routine information using tact and persuasion as appropriate. Require good oral and written communication skills.
