Music Teacher Job Description
Music Teacher (Part-Time)
The music teacher plans, organizes, and delivers music instruction consistent with the school's curriculum and Christian philosophy of education. The teacher helps students develop musical skills, appreciation for music, and confidence in performance while encouraging students to use their gifts to glorify God.
This is a part-time position serving students in 4K through 8th grade. The anticipated teaching schedule is Monday, Wednesday, and Friday during the school year.
The music teacher works with administration and staff to support school programs and provide opportunities for students to participate in musical performances and worship through music.
Required Education
Have obtained a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
State-level teacher certification preferred
Required Spiritual Qualifications
Have received Jesus Christ as his/her Savior
Believe that the Bible is God's Word and standard for faith and daily living
Be in agreement with the school's Doctrinal Statement and Christian philosophy of education
Be a Christian role model in attitude, speech, and actions toward others. This includes being committed to God's Biblical standards for sexual conduct (Luke 6:40)
Be a member in good standing at a local church that has a Statement of Faith in significant agreement with the school's Statement of Faith
Show by example the importance of Scripture study and memorization, prayer, witnessing, and unity in the Body of Christ
Have the spiritual maturity, academic ability, and personal leadership qualities to train up a child in the way he should go
Other Required Qualifications

Demonstrate a love of children and a heart to serve others

Essential Job Functions
Teach music classes for students in 4K through 8th grade and maintain a classroom management system to create an effective learning environment
Plan and deliver music instruction using the curriculum and resources provided by or approved by the school, adapting lessons as needed to support student learning and engagement working with both regular and special education students
Develop students' understanding of rhythm, melody, singing, music literacy, and appreciation of music
Encourage students to develop confidence in musical performance and expression
Integrate Biblical principles and the Christian philosophy of education into music instruction and activities
Organize and direct school music performances, including the Christmas program and spring performance, which may require coordinating rehearsals, occasional after-school meetings or practices, and collaboration with the play director and production team.
Coordinate student musical participation for special school events such as community Veterans Day events, the Christmas program, Spring Show, and National Day of Prayer, as well as other school programs requiring musical performances
Prepare students for performances through rehearsals and practice
Select appropriate music that aligns with the school's mission and educational goals
Maintain music materials, instruments, and classroom resources
Collaborate with teachers and administration to support school programs and events utilizing all school informational tools such as in-person meetings, email, Google chat, and Google Calendar
Communicate with parents regarding upcoming performances and student participation
Track assignments and grades in the school SIS, FACTS, and prepare progress reports and report cards as scheduled according to the staff calendar
Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school training as required
Help prepare classrooms and performance spaces as needed for rehearsals and programs
Establish and enforce rules of conduct to maintain a respectful learning environment
Monitor the use and care of musical equipment, materials, and facilities
Participate in school events and activities as requested by administration
Perform other duties as assigned by school administration
Schedule and Employment Terms
This is a part-time position teaching music classes for students in 4K through 8th grade.
The anticipated teaching schedule is Monday, Wednesday, and Friday during the school year, though the exact schedule may be adjusted by administration as needed.
Depending on school needs and candidate qualifications, additional opportunities may include teaching a high school music elective or supervising a high school study hall.
Salary is commensurate with experience.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
The employee must be able to stand and walk for extended periods during the school day.
The employee may occasionally be required to bend, kneel, stoop, or reach while working with students or classroom materials.
The employee must occasionally lift and move up to 25 pounds such as music equipment, classroom supplies, or instruments.
The employee may supervise students in indoor and outdoor environments and must maintain active supervision of students.

Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
