General Summary
The Part-Time Teacher in the Children's Center will Assist full time teachers in classrooms with infants up to small children. The part-time children's center teacher is responsible for creating a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for young children. This role involves planning and implementing educational activities that promote social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development.
Specific Position Duties
  • Assisting full time teachers in classrooms with infants up to small children.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment.
  • Supervise children at all times, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive atmosphere where all children feel valued and respected.
  • Observe and assess each child's progress and development, providing feedback to parents and guardians.
  • Identify any developmental concerns and work with parents and specialists to address them.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and guardians, providing regular updates on their child's progress and any center activities.
  • Collaborate with other teachers and staff to ensure a cohesive and supportive educational environment.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Must meet the staff requirements of the Texas Department of Protective & Regulatory Service Standards for Day-Care Centers.
  • 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Competency in office skills including typing, spelling, and the use of grammar.
  • Filing skills and ability to organize, maintain, and retrieve from a large system.
  • Must possess maturity and sensitivity, with the ability to relate well to both children and adults.
  • Ability to understand and follow the philosophy of the Odessa College Children's Center.
  • Must be able to pass the WorkSTEPS assessment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, creativity, and a passion for working with children.

Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience working with young children in an educational setting.

Hiring Range
12.00/hr
Work Hours
Part-time hours, which may include mornings, afternoons, or a combination of both, depending on the center's needs.
