Job description

Job Description – Certified Dental Assistant II

A dental assistant II will be assigned to be the primary assistant for a specific doctor. However, we work as a team and each assistant may help out both doctors as needed to best serve our patients.

Specific duties include but may not be limited to:

Chairside assisting on procedures – Review medical histories, take BP, be familiar with the steps and set up for each – be able to explain it to the patient, get necessary consent forms, and go over post-op instructions with patients, help the doctor be as efficient as possible, while maintaining highest quality level, monitor nitrous as needed (must be N2O certified), monitor patients for any signs of medical emergencies.

Room turnover, sterilization, laundry, maintain clean and orderly work area, maintain the best possible infection control, work as a team player with good communication to help each day run smoothly and take best care of patients.

Manage doctor schedule/cases – Ensure that deliveries are here in time for patient appointment before the day of, look ahead to identify any potential issues with the schedule so there is time to make adjustments. Be sure we have necessary models, articulators, wax ups for larger or cosmetic cases. Send out lab cases packaged well and in a timely manner. Patient post op follow up calls within 24 hours of visit.

Be able to take quality images – radiographs, CBCT, photographs.

Expanded functions – coronal polishing, make high quality and esthetic temporary crowns/bridges/veneers, adjust nightguards, place sealants, take impressions, pour, base and trim models, assist with facebow records, mount models on articulators, make bleaching trays and invisible retainers, Cerec (scan, handle milling, characterization, and final polishing).

Record keeping – scan in lab slips and invoices, fill out routing slips fully and accurately, fill out procedure notes for doctor to review and sign.

***This is a 3 day per week, part-time position with a rotation of Monday-Wednesday 8am-4pm that will transition in the Spring of 2024 to Tuesday-Thursday 8am-4pm ongoing.***
