Description of role:

Are you looking to put your excellent driving skills to work in a fun, friendly, mission-oriented environment? RRVBC is looking for a part-time CDL/B driver who would like to spend 1-3 days a week helping us fulfill our mission!

As a Mobile Unit Assistant (CDL Driver) for our mobile blood drives, you will be responsible for transporting our coach bus/box trucks to and from various mobile blood drive locations within the Rock River Valley region. You will play a key role in assisting in the set up and overall operation of our mobile blood drives. This position is also responsible for general maintenance, cleaning, loading blood banking equipment and supplies into the mobile coach. You will also assist in segmenting blood products, packing into coolers for transport and with donor adverse reaction care.

Note, A CDL/B license is preferred; however, applicants with experience safely operating box trucks or similar commercial vehicles are encouraged to apply. We are also interested in candidates whose primary focus would be supporting our mobile operations by safely operating our box trucks only. A CDL/B license is not required for this aspect of the role.

Skills and Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid CDL/B, IL driver's license with air brake endorsement.
  • Recent operator of a vehicle requiring an IL CDL/B driver's license.
  • 3 plus years safe driving experience and safe driving record in accordance with the IDOT (IL Dept. of Transportation).
  • Must maintain a DOT (Dept. of Transportation) Medical Card.
  • Must agree to be part of a random drug-testing program as required by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, section 49CFR382. Failing the drug test will result in termination of employment.
  • Experience driving a bus/coach vehicle preferred.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

Work Schedule:

We're looking for individuals interested in working part-time. Flexible scheduling available, working Monday thru Saturday; 1-3 days per week. 

Salary:

Hourly wage for this position begins at $17.50/hr.
