How much do part time budtender jobs pay per hour?

As of Jun 23, 2026, the average hourly pay for part time budtender in the United States is $23.01, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $18.51 and $27.40 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What are part time budtenders?

Part time budtenders are employees who work less than full-time hours at a dispensary, where they assist customers with selecting cannabis products, provide information on strains and consumption methods, and ensure compliance with local laws. They play a key role in customer service, product knowledge, and maintaining a welcoming dispensary environment. Their flexible schedules make these roles suitable for students or those seeking supplemental income. Part time budtenders may also be responsible for handling cash transactions, restocking shelves, and maintaining cleanliness in the store.

How much do budtenders make?

Budtenders in Florida typically earn an average hourly wage of $12 to $15, with annual salaries ranging from approximately $25,000 to $31,000 for full-time positions. Wages can vary based on experience, location, and the dispensary's size, and some may receive tips or commissions.

What jobs pay 2000 a day?

Part time budtenders typically do not earn $2000 a day; such high daily earnings are more common in high-level sales roles, specialized consulting, or entrepreneurial ventures. Most cannabis industry jobs pay hourly or salary wages, with top earners possibly making significant commissions or bonuses. Achieving $2000 daily income usually requires extensive experience, high sales volume, or owning a business in the industry.

Where do budtenders make the most money?

Budtenders tend to earn higher wages in states or regions with a larger legal cannabis market and higher living costs. Compensation can also increase with experience, certifications, and working in dispensaries with higher sales volume or premium products. However, wages vary widely depending on local regulations and demand.

What are some common challenges faced by part-time budtenders, and how can they be successfully managed?

Part-time budtenders often encounter challenges such as staying up-to-date with a rapidly changing product inventory, balancing customer service with compliance requirements, and adapting to varying shift schedules. Success in this role relies on strong communication skills, a willingness to continuously learn about cannabis products, and meticulous attention to state regulations. Building rapport with regular customers and collaborating with full-time staff can also help create a supportive team environment, making it easier to manage these challenges and provide excellent service.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Part Time Budtender, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Part Time Budtender, you need a solid understanding of cannabis products, state compliance requirements, and basic sales or customer service experience, often supported by a high school diploma and, in some areas, a cannabis handler permit. Familiarity with point-of-sale (POS) systems, inventory tracking software, and ID verification tools is typically required. Outstanding interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and the ability to educate customers make someone stand out in this role. These skills ensure legal compliance, positive customer experiences, and efficient daily operations in a regulated retail environment.

Is it hard to get a job as a budtender?

Getting a job as a budtender can vary depending on location and experience, but generally, it requires knowledge of cannabis products, good customer service skills, and sometimes a background check or certification. Entry-level positions are often available, but competition can exist in popular markets. Having familiarity with POS systems and product knowledge can improve chances of employment.
