Description
DEFINITION
Under general supervision of the Recreation Supervisor, the Boxing Coach is responsible in the training and instruction of youth and adults participating in the City of Sanger Boxing Program.
Qualifications & Examples of Duties
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:
EDUCATION
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
EXPERIENCE
  • Two years' experience in instructing boxing programs.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
  • Possess First Aid and CPR certificates within 90 days of appointment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Running, jogging, walking, stooping and the ability to lift 25 pounds.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
Essential job functions may include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Assist in the training and instruction of participants in basic boxing techniques to provide a quality competitive environment to train and motivate young athletes and adults in the sport of boxing.
  • Instruct the boxing team participants on safe boxing techniques, and physical training regimens.
  • Assist in coordinating boxing team practices and physical workouts.
  • May assist in taking registration and recording attendance.
  • Assist in setting up and taking down equipment and preparing the venue for activities and events.
  • Maintains equipment and facilities in a clean and safe condition.
  • Assist in conducting boxing classes for different age groups.
  • Assist in monitoring boxing activities during training and practices.
  • Recommend performances of program participants to instructor, explains techniques, and assists with skill improvement.
  • Monitor guests and program participants and enforces rules, regulations, behavior and resolves issues.
  • Promote a positive recreation environment and good personal behavior; explains to the public, community resource agencies, and other organizations about program activities.
  • Monitor activities in the facilities for individuals who may need assistance or guidance.
  • Administers first aid to the injured, and calls Emergency Medical Services (EMS) on serious accident cases.
  • Other related work as required.

  • Knowledge of seasonal sports rules & ability to officiate fairly.
  • Ability to understand, explain, interpret, and/or enforce the rules and regulations of the sport.
  • Ability to write legibly and speak clearly.

  • Ability to work well with others.
