Compensation Range: $25 - $30 Hourly

The Opportunity

Moody Publishers is seeking a creative, detail-oriented Graphic Designer (Part-Time) to join our collaborative Creative Team. In this role, you will develop compelling marketing materials and visual content that support book launches, sales initiatives, and brand awareness efforts. You will also have opportunities to contribute to book cover design, illustration projects, and other creative initiatives that help bring impactful Christian content to readers around the world.

This position is ideal for a designer who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys balancing multiple projects, and is passionate about the power of visual storytelling and the written word.

What You’ll Do

Marketing & Promotional Design

  • Design engaging print and digital marketing materials tailored to specific audiences and campaigns.
  • Partner with Marketing Managers and the Sales Team to understand project objectives and target audiences.
  • Create a variety of promotional assets, including:
    • Amazon A+ pages
    • Digital banner advertisements
    • Magazine advertisements
    • Brochures
    • Social media graphics and shareable content
    • Postcards
    • Conference and event displays
    • Other promotional materials as needed

Book Design & Creative Development

  • Design original front cover concepts for Christian Living titles and other assigned publishing projects.
  • Create full cover mechanicals and prepare files for press production.
  • Develop illustrations and original artwork as required.
  • Contribute creative ideas and design support for special projects and strategic initiatives.

Collaboration & Project Management

  • Collaborate closely with the Creative Director, Studio Manager, Copywriter, Designers, Marketing Managers, and external partners.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and quality expectations.
  • Maintain organized digital art, photography, and project files.
  • Adapt designs for various platforms, formats, and audience needs.
  • Stay current with design trends and actively pursue professional growth and skill development.

Top Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, New Media, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in a design studio, creative agency, publishing environment, or similar setting.
  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including:
    • InDesign
    • Photoshop
    • Illustrator
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities independently.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality creative work.
  • Proven ability to adjust designs across multiple formats and platforms.
  • Passion for books, publishing, and visual storytelling.

Preferred

  • Strong portfolio demonstrating excellence in typography, visual hierarchy, layout, branding, and design versatility.
  • Experience working collaboratively within creative teams and cross-functional environments.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Skills in complementary creative disciplines such as photography or illustration.
  • Flexible, adaptable, and open to new ideas and creative approaches.

Work Environment

  • This position may be performed in a hybrid capacity from the Chicagoland area or remotely for qualified candidates outside the region.
  • This is a part-time position operating in a professional office environment. The role regularly utilizes computers, design software, digital collaboration tools, telephones, and other standard office equipment.
