About Us
Paraquad champions equity and independence for people with disabilities through services partnerships, education, and advocacy.
Position Summary: The Education Instructor is responsible for implementing the provided curriculum and delivering continuing education classes to adult students with developmental disabilities. The Education instructor will teach classes subject to include Cooking, Transportation, Book Club, Reading, Computers, and more. The instructor fosters an inclusive, supportive learning environment that encourages participation, independence, and skill development.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Teach students in a classroom or virtual setting two or more evenings each week.
  • Prepare classroom and gather materials needed for class during the planning period.
  • Present pre-written material in a variety of ways to accommodate different aptitudes and learning styles of students: discussion, demonstration, hands-on activity, reading, worksheets, instructive lectures, role-playing, videos, movies, etc.
  • Complete individual service reports (ISRs) for each student every week; complete attendance logs each week.
  • Turn in completed documentation to the Site Leader before leaving each evening..

Required Qualifications:
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • One-year work experience in a disability-related programs or service; preference given to experience in an education program for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Skills and Competencies:
  • Teaching / Public Speaking
  • Excellent Written Communication
  • High Level of Organization

Qualifications:
  • Experience working with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities preferred
  • Experience working in a program that requires extensive documentation preferred.

Working Conditions:
  • Physical demands may include standing, walking, and lifting.
  • Work environment may include office with occasional exposure to noise or other environmental factors.
  • Flexible schedule may be required, including evenings.
