Job Title: Lab Technician - Next Generation Sequencing (NGS)

Location: Gaithersburg, MD

Job Description:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly motivated Lab Technician to join our team. In this part-time role, you will be part of a team that supports our NGS workflows, including sample extraction, library preparation, sequencing, and data analysis. This is a great opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform sample extraction from a variety of biological samples.
  • Prepare libraries for next-generation sequencing, carefully following established protocols.
  • Operate and maintain NGS instruments and related lab equipment.
  • Implement quality control procedures to ensure accuracy, precision, and consistency in all lab processes.
  • Ensure accuracy and precision in all lab procedures and document all processes meticulously.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and optimizing laboratory workflows to improve efficiency and output quality.
  • Maintain a clean and organized laboratory environment, ensuring all safety protocols are followed.
  • Participate in data analysis and interpretation, as needed, in collaboration with the bioinformatics team.
  • Assist in inventory management, including ordering and maintaining lab supplies.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's or Bachelor’s degree, ideally with hands-on lab experience.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work meticulously in a fast-paced, multi-project environment.
  • Excellent communication and technical skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude toward learning and adapting to new techniques.
