Part Time Biochemistry information

What is part time biochemistry?

Part-time biochemistry jobs are positions in the field of biochemistry that require fewer hours per week than full-time roles, typically involving research, laboratory work, teaching, or technical support. These jobs are ideal for students, professionals seeking flexible schedules, or those balancing other commitments. Duties may include assisting in experiments, analyzing samples, or supporting academic projects. Part-time roles can be found in universities, research institutes, hospitals, and private companies.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a part time biochemistry professional?

To thrive as a Part Time Biochemistry professional, you need a solid understanding of biochemical principles, laboratory techniques, and at least a bachelor's degree in biochemistry or a related field. Familiarity with lab equipment, analytical software, and safety protocols—plus certifications like GLP (Good Laboratory Practice)—is often required. Strong attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication skills help you work efficiently and contribute to research teams. These skills ensure accurate data collection, safe lab practices, and productive collaboration, all crucial for reliable scientific outcomes.

What are some common challenges faced by part time biochemists, and how can they successfully integrate into research teams?

Part-time biochemists often face challenges such as managing time effectively between their work and personal commitments and staying up-to-date with ongoing projects. Since research teams typically work on collaborative experiments, part-time professionals must communicate proactively and coordinate schedules to ensure seamless progress. Building strong relationships with colleagues and making the most of available lab hours can help part-time biochemists contribute meaningfully and stay engaged with team objectives. Leveraging digital tools for communication and project management also aids in staying connected and informed.

What role you will play in our team

Champion gas chromatography (GC) and advanced hyphenated techniques (e.g., GCxGC, GC-VUV, GC-MS) for R&D and business applications.
Solve complex analytical challenges in the energy and chemical industry using advanced chromatographic methods, in combination with complementary analytical techniques (e.g., liquid chromatography, elemental analysis, spectroscopy, NMR).
Develop and implement innovative chromatographic methods and characterization protocols to support research programs and business needs.

What you will do
  • Provide technical leadership and problem-solving in energy transition and chemical innovation using GC and hyphenated techniques, complemented by other analytical approaches.
  • Advance research by developing new chromatographic technologies and methodologies to address complex technical and scientific problems with creative, independent thinking.
  • Design and optimize advanced GC-based workflows, including multidimensional GC (GC×GC), GC-VUV, and GC-MS, and establish robust data analysis strategies.
  • Deploy analytical methods to support R&D programs and ensure timely delivery of key program milestones.
  • Serve as test method owner for established GC methods, ensuring compliance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate in a multidisciplinary matrix environment, providing expertise and leadership in chromatographic science.
  • Stay current with emerging trends in chromatography and hyphenated techniques through literature, conferences, and professional networks.
  • Prepare and deliver technical reports, presentations, and publications for internal stakeholders and external scientific forums.
  • Familiarity with analysis of hydrocarbons, polymers, renewable feedstocks, and complex mixtures is a plus.
About you

Essential Requirements:

  • Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry or related field, with 2+ years’ experience in GC method development and advanced chromatographic techniques.
  • Strong expertise in gas chromatography and hyphenated techniques (e.g., GC×GC, GC-VUV, GC-MS), including method development, optimization, and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge on high resolution mass spectrometry and different types of ion sources.
  • Proficiency in data processing and chemometrics, with experience in advanced data analysis tools and programming (e.g., Python, Matlab, R).
  • Solid understanding of analytical chemistry principles and their application to complex sample matrices.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve technical problems, innovate, and deliver results under tight timelines.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills: communication, collaboration, adaptability, and leadership in a team-oriented environment.
  • Highly self-motivated with strong organizational and documentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
