Job description

Turn your passion for the outdoors, sports, or fashion into a world-class career.

At SCHEELS, we don’t just sell gear—we live it. As a leader in the sporting goods industry, we are driven to create the best experience in the USA for our customers. We empower our associates to become true experts through extensive product training, mentorship, and professional development. If you "walk the walk" and love helping others find their next favorite hobby, you belong at SCHEELS.

What You’ll Do
  • Be the Expert Guide: Turn shoppers into fans by sharing your passion for our products and helping them make the perfect buying decisions.
  • Drive the Win: Hit your personal sales goals while providing an "above and beyond" experience that keeps customers coming back.
  • Share the Perks: Boost customer loyalty by masterfully explaining the benefits of the Scheels Visa Rewards card and our latest promotions.
  • Master the Shop: Stay ahead of the game by attending expert product trainings and keeping your shop floor-ready and perfectly stocked.
The Perks & Benefits

We don’t just offer a job; we offer an investment in you. At SCHEELS, you aren't just an employee—you’re an owner.

  • Become an Owner: Join our 100% Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) at no cost to you. You'll start earning ownership after your first year (1,000 hours) and become fully vested in just three years. Continue to build wealth with 401(k) options (eligible after your first quarter).
  • Best Discount in Retail: Enjoy our famous associate discount on the brands you love.
  • Community Impact: Get paid to volunteer up to 2 hours per month!
The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for individuals who take pride in their work and treat every customer like the most important person in the building.

  • The 365 Hunter: You aren't just a fan of the sport; you are an active, year-round archery and/or big game hunter who stays obsessed with modern tech, tuning, and industry trends.
  • Culture Fit: You arrive early (10 minutes is our standard!), bring high energy, and have a genuine desire to help others.
  • Skills: Basic math and communication skills are essential for sales and reporting.
  • Physicality: This is a "heavy work" role. You should be comfortable standing, walking, and occasionally lifting/moving up to 100 lbs.
  • Education: High school diploma (or GED) and 1–3 months of related experience are preferred.

*Candidate must be at least 18 years of age.

Schedule & Compensation
  • Hours: Average of 15-20 hours per week
  • The Shift: 2-3 evening shifts from (5:00 PM - 9:00 PM) with product knowledge team trainings every other week on a Tuesday or Wednesday from 5:15 PM - 6:45 PM.
  • Weekends: Minimum of every other weekend (Saturdays between 9:00 AM – 9:00 PM; Sundays 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM).
  • Pay: The hourly rate posted includes personal sales commission and a base hourly wage.

This is a long term role, NOT a seasonal position

Closing Date: The job opportunity will remain posted until we have selected a qualified candidate to fill the position.

EQUAL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY

Scheels is an equal employment opportunity employer providing equal employment opportunities to individuals regardless of age, color, national origin, citizenship status, physical or mental disability, race, religion, creed, gender, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity and/or expression, genetic information, marital status, status with regard to public assistance, veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local law.
