Job description

Job Summary:

JOB DESCRIPTION - Intern, Cassandra Team

Location: Beverly Hills, CA

Division: Ticketmaster

Line Manager: Senior Manager, Database Engineering

Contract Terms: Internship (Fall Semester)

THE JOB

We are looking for an intern to join the Cassandra team within Ticketmaster's TechOps Global Database Services organization. Ticketmaster is the world's largest live entertainment ticketing company, processing hundreds of millions of tickets annually across tens of thousands of events for clients in 30+ countries. We run multiple databases and a data stream fleet that powers the platform across multiple AWS regions and on-prem VMware, and we treat our database platform as a product - built and operated with an infrastructure-as-code mindset, observable end to end, and continuously improved through automation. You'll work with database technology operating at a scale few companies reach, on a team invested in helping you grow your career.

AI is part of how this team works every day, and you'll learn to use it the way our engineers do - pairing with AI coding assistants and agents to write and test scripts, investigate problems and automate routine database work. Few internships let you build hands-on, agentic AI skills this early, and you'll leave with experience that's fast becoming essential to modern engineering.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

  • You will use AI coding assistants and agents as part of daily engineering - writing and testing scripts, investigating issues and automating routine database operations - and learn to apply these tools effectively and responsibly.
  • You will work closely with the Database Engineering team to perform database operations in a non-production environment, test database operations scripts and generate reports.
  • You will learn a wide range of tools used by the Database Engineering team, learn the modern SDLC and participate in the quality-testing workflow, including building test cases for functional verification, performance verification and fault-tolerance testing, writing test reports and opening bug reports.
  • You will have a chance to learn OS patching, database patching, GitLab repo management, networking and databases.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW (or TECHNICAL SKILLS)

  • Current college student in Computer Science or Computer Engineering major.
  • Knowledge of software development life cycle, understanding user stories/use cases a plus.
  • Knowledge of relational and non-relational databases.
  • Basic Linux/shell familiarity and light scripting in Python or Bash a plus.
  • Previous internship experience is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Able to work independently and comfortable with a remote working style.
