Job description

Proof of the Pudding is the food service provider for RICE University Athletics. We are looking for bartenders to join our game day team!

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Responsible for both pre & post bar set-up/breakdown responsibilities.  

  • Sets bar up in a timely manner, including icing down product. 

  • Communicates well with bar back personnel during the event to assist them with replenishment during shift.  

  • Greets all guests and gives exceptional customer service.  

  • Operations a point of sale system to collect funds. 

  • Attentive to guests needs throughout the entire event.  

  • Cleans bar after closing, discard excess ice.  

  • Record closing inventory used to balance bar consumption vs sales.  

  • Responsible for putting away all inventory as directed.  

  • Follows all federal, local, and venue alcohol policies. 

 Performs other related duties as required. 

Education and/or Experience: 

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred  

  • 1+ years of bartending experience  

  • Familiarity with Square POS is preferred 

Specialized Qualifications: 

  • Must be extremely hardworking and organized.  

  • Must be exceedingly responsible and accountable.  

  • Maintain good grooming and personal hygiene.  

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. 

  • Excellent listening and communication skills.

Work Environment   

The work environment for this position will work out of and report to RICE University. Events may be indoors, outdoors, or in temporary structures. This position will often move throughout the grounds and venue on different terrains.

Physical Demands:  

  • Prolonged periods of being in one place, moving through an event space, and traveling from venue to venue.  

  • Bending, lifting, scooping, and carrying miscellaneous equipment and food items.  

  • Ability to perform physical tasks, such as but not limited to, lifting up-to 30 pounds.
