Part-Time Aviation Bookkeeper

Position Summary
PlaneSmart is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Part-Time Bookkeeper to support the company's financial and accounting operations. The ideal candidate will have bookkeeping experience, strong organizational skills, and an understanding of accounting practices. Experience in the aviation industry is preferred but not required.
The Bookkeeper will maintain accurate financial records, process accounts payable and receivable, reconcile accounts, assist with monthly financial reporting, and provide administrative accounting support to management.
Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate and organized financial records
  • Record and categorize daily financial transactions
  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Enter and process vendor invoices and payments
  • Prepare customer invoices and monitor outstanding balances
  • Reconcile bank and credit card accounts
  • Assist with monthly financial close and reporting
  • Maintain vendor and customer records
  • Review transactions for accuracy and proper coding
  • Assist with payroll and expense tracking as needed
  • Maintain organized digital and physical accounting files
  • Assist with budgeting, expense tracking, and financial reporting
  • Work with management, vendors, and outside accounting professionals as needed
  • Maintain confidentiality of company financial information
  • Perform other accounting and administrative duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • 2+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience preferred
  • Aviation, aircraft management, charter, maintenance, or related industry experience is a plus
  • Strong knowledge of basic accounting principles
  • Experience with QuickBooks or similar accounting software
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Professional communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to handle confidential financial information
Preferred Experience
  • Aviation or aircraft-related accounting
  • Aircraft operating expenses and vendor invoices
  • Maintenance-related invoices and expenses
  • Fuel, hangar, travel, and aircraft operating expense tracking
  • Multiple entities or cost-center accounting
  • Experience working with an outside CPA or accounting firm
Schedule
Part-Time: Approximately 15–25 hours per week, with flexibility based on business needs.
The position may offer a combination of in-office and remote work depending on experience and company requirements.
Compensation
