Job description

The Automotive Detailer prepares and protects all vehicles entering our inventory against environmental conditions that can deteriorate their aesthetic quality and both the interior and exterior condition. They monitor and maintain vehicles on the lot, always ensuring a clean and presentable condition. Automotive Detailers lead the pre-delivery preparation process of vehicles sold and clean customer vehicles when services are purchased from our Detail Services Matrix or as directed by the Service Manager.

This position provides full-time and part-time opportunities. This is not a managerial position. The position offers a competitive, base hourly wage of $20, paid biweekly. In addition, you will be eligible for benefits such as medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as paid time off.

Applicants must have previous job-based, professional experience or training as an Automotive Detailer or Auto Body Paint Technician.

Specific Duties:

  • Maintain all vehicles in a high state of cleanliness to ensure our customers receive their newly purchased vehicle in the very best condition possible;
  • Restore previously owned vehicles to an optimal condition in a timely manner and within budget;
  • Prepare vehicles for display in the dealership’s showroom;
  • Ensure vehicles are thoroughly washed and that all contaminants, visible and invisible, are eliminated from the interior and exterior of the vehicle;
  • Apply protective, decorative, revitalizing, and/or preservative agents to interior vinyl or leather surfaces and treat fabrics with spot- and stain-resistant chemicals;
  • Apply wax and sealants to auto body, and buff or polish surface to a blemish-free, high lustre finish;
  • Use proper cleaning techniques, supplies, and tools for each task and optimally maintain detail equipment through regular maintenance and routine servicing;
  • Inspect vehicles for any damages, record findings appropriately, and report damage or concerns to management;
  • Using the XTime Application, video all “customer pay” vehicles prior to initiating work;
  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure efficient workflow;
  • Follow all safety protocols, use personal protective equipment, and notify your shift leader/supervisor immediately of safety incidents, issues, or concerns;
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment in and around the detail bays at all times;
  • As directed, stage the vehicle for sales consultant or customer pick-up;
  • Maintain accountability and assure the security of all vehicle keys;
  • Address any customer concerns and answer questions about vehicle cleaning, detailing, and at-home appearance maintenance processes;
  • Carry out additional tasks as directed by the Senior Automotive Detailer, Detail Manager, and/or other Mazda of Clearwater Senior Leaders.
