Job Overview & Description
General Description
The Adult Education Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Instructor/Examiner position is a part time position. The main responsibility of this position is to provide theoretical and hands-on instruction to students in activities and competencies designed to promote social, intellectual and employment growth and to meet CDL class A or class B licensure requirements. The Instructor will be responsible for developing and conducting learning programs and associated materials for students with the ultimate goal of producing entry-skilled and employable students. This is an hourly position paid at a rate of $26.75 per hour.
Required Qualifications
The individual to be hired to the position of CDL Instructor/Examiner must meet the following conditions and qualifications:
  • Five years of verifiable experience as a CDL Driver.
  • Business/Industry, truck driving school, and/or apprenticeship.
  • Must maintain a valid CDL license with endorsements and current Medical Card.
  • CDL class A certification in truck driving, Third Party Testing Certificate
  • Must submit to regular Department of Transportation physicals and random drug/alcohol screens.
  • Meet all legal requirements, submit all clearances required by the School or established by law.
  • Ability to safely operate any of the Class "A" vehicles in fleet.
  • Able to use and maintain Equipment specific to truck driving.
  • Ability to effectively present information in small or large groups or individualized instruction.
  • Ability to write reports, take attendance and perform other customary paperwork associated with adult education.
  • Must be able to walk, bend, use hands, talk and hear, use audio-visual equipment and supplies.
  • Lift and/or move up to 25 pounds; the employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
