Job description

McGregor PACE is an innovative, community-based Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly. Our five senior day centers and clinics are located in the counties of Cuyahoga, Lorraine, and Summit.

McGregor PACE is expanding! We have an opportunity for a highly motivated and dedicated Part-Time Dietary Assistant to work at our Adult Health Day Center in our East Cleveland location, preparing and serving meals for frail and elderly populations.


McGregor PACE (Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly) is a community-based service program that provides in-home healthcare services to the elderly as an alternative to nursing home placement, allowing Seniors to remain at home. You will work closely with our team of healthcare professionals to ensure that our participants receive the highest quality of care.

Responsibilities:

  • Able to understand food safety procedures as it pertains to daily job duties, including the knowledge of cooler/freezer temperatures, food receiving temperatures, and food reheating temperatures.
  • Completes applicable training on food safety as required by local regulations.
  • Communicates with sanitarians during health inspection visits.
  • Able to use all kitchen equipment including but not limited to oven, robot coupe (commercial blender), dishwasher/three compartment sink.
  • Serves lunch according to the day center time frame, assuring that food is served at the correct temperature and that each participant receives the correct, prescribed diet.
  • Communicates with all relevant departments as pertains to congregate meal service.
  • Coordinates the delivery of home-delivered meals, supplements, and tube feeding from the day center with the Transportation department and Registered Dietitians.
  • Assists with the assembly of food pantry bags from McGregor Food Pantry once a month, and as needed throughout the month.
  • Accurately maintains paper and/or Excel spreadsheet logs for food temperatures, food waste, home-delivered meals, and supplements.
  • Assists with putting away stock in dietary storage office.
  • Maintains cleanliness and organization of dietary storage office and kitchen.
  • Utilizes Outlook email and Microsoft Teams to communicate with department coworkers.
  • Follows McGregor PACE Dietary policies and local health regulations.
  • Informs supervisor of observed participant changes or issues.
  • Assists in departmental performance improvement initiatives, as relevant.
  • Completes training as required by PACE organization.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School diploma, or equivalent, required.
  • Dependability, flexibility, and a caring attitude are required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with the frail or elderly preferred.
