Part-Time/Non-Exempt/ Hours vary based on Museum event schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. Work schedules are generally provided six weeks in advance. The Museum is an EOE.


The Facilities Event Set-Up Associate for the Nevada Museum of Art supports the preparation and execution of Museum events, programs, and facility rentals. This position is responsible for the set-up and tear-down of event spaces, including the movement and arrangement of furniture, equipment, and other event-related event materials. The Facilities Event Set-Up Associate will review event plans and specifications, ensure spaces are prepared accurately and safely, and will assist with adjustments as event needs change. This position reports to the Vice President of Facilities.


Tasks and Responsibilities 

  • Review Banquet Event Orders (BEOs), event maps, floorplans, and setup instructions prior to each event to understand all physical setup requirements.
  • Assist with loading, unloading, transporting, and storing event-related equipment and supplies.
  • Set up and tear down Museum events, facility rentals, meetings, programs, and special events according to event specifications and room diagrams.
  • Remain responsive to event needs and make last-minute adjustments to room layouts, furniture, equipment, and event setups as requested by Museum staff prior to event start.
  • Restore event spaces to standard configurations following events and perform basic event-related janitorial duties as needed, including sweeping, mopping, trash removal, cleaning spills, wiping down surfaces, and addressing other minor cleanup needs.
  • Maintain organized event storage areas and properly store furniture and equipment after use.
  • Identify and report damaged furniture, equipment, or safety concerns.
  • Follow Museum policies and procedures to ensure the safety of visitors, artwork, Museum equipment, and property.
  • Other duties as assigned 

Requirements

  • Previous experience in event setup, hospitality, facilities, warehouse operations, or a related field preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately follow BEOs, floorplans, room diagrams, and setup instructions.
  • Ability to work independently, respond to changing event needs, and complete assignments efficiently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to perform strenuous physical work for extended periods, including repeatedly lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 75 pounds.
  • Ability to safely move event furniture and equipment and to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, climb stairs, and use ladders as needed.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Demonstrated reliability, punctuality, professionalism, and strong work ethic.
