Position Summary Information
Job Description Summary
This position will be assigned to work in one of the following counties, depending on employee preference: Aransas, Bee, Brooks, Duval, Jim Wells, Kleberg, Kenedy, Refugio, or San Patricio County.
Responsible for working with individual adult learners face to face and in virtual learning environments. Provide the teaching of ESL in compliance with Texas Adult Education and Literacy Content Standards while integrating civics, and jobs skills into lesson delivery. Helps adult learners meet their educational, personal, and professional goals while building strong community in the classroom.
Conduct student orientation and testing independently, and monitor student progress in line with grant requirements. Ensure weekly submission of student documents. Requires occasional in-person training at Del Mar College Heritage Campus.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor Degree in Education or related field.
One (1) year teaching experience in reading, writing, mathematics, and English language acquisition.
Required Job Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Bilingual or equivalent in one language other than English. Must be computer proficient. Must be compassionate with strong interpersonal skills including communication. Ability to facilitate group learning and establish and maintain constructive relationships in the classroom.
Preferred Qualifications
Two years direct teaching experience in ESL. Teaching Certificate.
