Description
This position is responsible for the collection and distribution of food for the Food Rescue program.
This position is Part Time, TUESDAYS and FRIDAYS from 6:15am - 2:15pm (16 hours per week).
Essential Functions:
  1. Drives and operates Food Rescue trucks.
  2. Collects and delivers donated food to pantries and partner agencies.
  3. Represent Food Rescue and Goodwill Northern Michigan to donors and agencies.
  4. Maintain Food Rescue vehicles and refrigeration in clean, good running condition.
  5. Adhere to all policies and procedures as established in the Goodwill Manual.
  6. Comply with Michigan seasonal weight restrictions ("frost laws") and adjust routes or loads as required during thaw periods to protect roadways and ensure legal operation.
  7. Enters daily poundage records into Food Rescue Database.
  8. Builds and manages relationships with food donors and agency partners.
  9. Operates Food Rescue equipment such as pallet jack, liftgate, and digital scale.
  10. Ensure a clean working environment that complies with the local Health Department and other agencies.
  11. Communicate regularly with Food Rescue Director to ensure good service
  12. Trains and leads volunteer riders to ensure safety and effectiveness.
  13. Assists in the training of new drivers
  14. Maintains great customer service internally and externally.
  15. Adhere to all Goodwill Northern Michigan policies and procedures.
  16. Other duties as assigned by manager.

Primary Responsibilities:
  1. Support the mission and vision of Goodwill Industries of Northern Michigan.
  2. Perform work in a safe manner by observing all Goodwill safety policies and procedures.
  3. Interact with all Goodwill team members, clients, and customers in a professional manner.
  4. Respect the diversity of others, including but not limited to, those with cultural, ethnic, and gender differences, individuals experiencing homelessness, and persons with visible and non-visible disabilities.

Requirements
Education, Licenses, Certifications and Experience:
  1. High School Diploma / GED
  2. Valid Michigan Driver's License with safe, clean driving record.
  3. Have or ability to obtain Chauffeur License or CDL within 14 days of hire.
  4. Have or ability to obtain DOT Medical Certification within 14 days of hire.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  1. Familiarity with community donation sites and agencies.
  2. Knowledge of maps of Grand Traverse, Leelanau, Kalkaska, Antrim and Benzie counties.
  3. Excellent customer service skills.
  4. Good verbal and written communication skills.
  5. Strong computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.
  6. Knowledge of and sensitivity to persons with disabilities or who are disadvantaged.
  7. Ability to work with a variety of people.
  8. Ability to multi-task.
  9. Self-starter, personally motivated and dependable.
  10. Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard and knowledge of basic math.

Physical Requirements:
  1. Drives and operates trucks and vehicles.
  2. Routinely sits, stands, and walks throughout the workday.
  3. Routinely bends, stoops, and stretches throughout the day.
  4. Ability to lift 50 pounds unassisted.
  5. This position is considered a Safety Sensitive position and is subject to zero tolerance under the Goodwill Industries of Northern Michigan Drug Free Workplace Policy.

Salary Description
$19/hr
