Job description

The City of Murphysboro, Illinois, is accepting applications for a Part-Time Animal Control Officer. Starting Pay for this position is $20.00 per hour.
The primary duties of an Animal Control Officer is to:
  • Protect both human and animal populations by enforcing animal laws and investigating cruelty or neglect.
  • Investigate complaints from the public and other agencies regarding nuisance, stray, uncontrolled, dangerous or diseased animals.
  • Conduct investigations of complaints regarding animal cruelty and neglect; investigate animal bites, arranging for appropriate identification and quarantine.
  • Written reports of all activity shall be prepared.
