The EMT-Paramedic is responsible for the treatment and transport of all persons requesting or requiring emergent or non-emergent medical services in a safe and timely manner in accordance to statewide protocols and accepted standards of care.

General Function

Paramedics provides care according to the Statewide Treatment Protocols. Paramedics check equipment and supplies and maintain their assigned facility. Also provide non-emergency transportation.

Major Responsibilities

  • Reassuring patients and bystanders by working in a confident, efficient manner.
  • Assess, stabilize and treat patients in accordance to MA and Action Ambulance standards.
  • Provides communications to various communications centers and notifies receiving facilities when appropriate.
  • Avoiding mishandling and undue haste while working expeditiously to accomplish the task.
  • Cleans all equipment following appropriate disinfecting procedures
  • Decontaminates the interior of the vehicle after transport of patient with contagious infection or hazardous materials exposure.
  • Ensures that the ambulance is clean and washed and kept in a neat orderly condition in accordance with local, state or federal regulations.
  • Attends refresher and continuing education as required.


Requirements:
  • Paramedic certification
  • State issued driver’s license
  • AHA, BLS for the healthcare provider certification
  • AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support

Physical Requirements:

  • Lifting the stretcher (be able to lift and carry 125 pounds),
  • Being able to stand for an extended amount of time.
