POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

POSITION: Logistics Technician
LOCATION: Logistical Services
JOB SUMMARY:
The Dougherty County School System is seeking a dependable and service-oriented Logistics Technician to support the daily operations of Logistical Services. This position is responsible for receiving, storing, organizing, loading, transporting, assembling, and delivering instructional materials, furniture, supplies, equipment, food, and other district property to schools and departments throughout the district. The Logistics Technician also assists with warehouse inventory, order fulfillment, surplus operations, equipment moves, and maintaining a safe and organized warehouse environment. This position requires the safe operation of warehouse equipment and vehicles, attention to accuracy and efficiency, and a commitment to providing responsive, high-quality service to schools and district staff.
 






MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent required;
  2. Valid driver's license and ability to safely operate district vehicles and warehouse equipment, as assigned;
  3. Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position, including lifting, carrying, loading, unloading, and moving materials and equipment;
  4. Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions, work orders, safety procedures, and established district guidelines;
  5. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced warehouse and delivery environment;
  6. Basic organizational and recordkeeping skills;
  7. Prior experience in warehousing, logistics, delivery, inventory, material handling, or a related field preferred;
  8. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

  4. Ability to accurately follow written and verbal instructions, work orders, and delivery schedules;
  5. Ability to safely operate warehouse equipment, material-handling equipment, and district vehicles, as assigned;
  6. Ability to load, unload, assemble, move, and properly store furniture, supplies, equipment, and other materials;
  7. Ability to maintain accurate inventory, receiving, and delivery records;
  8. Ability to prioritize tasks and complete assignments efficiently in a fast-paced environment;
  9. Ability to identify and communicate problems or concerns to the appropriate supervisor;
  10. Ability to work cooperatively with school-based staff, district personnel, vendors, and other stakeholders;
  11. Knowledge of basic warehouse safety practices and procedures;
  12. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1.  Assist with transporting teaching materials, furniture, supplies, equipment, and food to and from schools and other locations including loading, unloading, assembly, and placement of items as required;
  2. Properly use appropriate material handling equipment and techniques to load and unload materials in a safe, efficient, and effective manner;
  3. Processes and fills requests for warehouse stock and delivery as required;
  4. Learn and comply with applicable and legal requirements, such as the use of wheel chocks, dock plates, and seat belts;
  5. Assemble materials and properly place them according to customer needs and established DCSS standards;
  6. Resolve problems from unexpected field conditions in accordance with established DCSS standards, and communicate problems to the supervisor for resolution, when required;
  7. Assists in warehouse inventory, receiving stock and surplus sales;
  8. Receive, store, and retrieve teaching materials, furniture, supplies, equipment, and food to be transported to or from schools and other locations, filling work order requests, assembling, packing, and palletizing items as necessary;
  9. Store items in assigned locations;
  10. Pick correct items from storage in the proper quantities to fill customer orders as indicated on work order requests, then pack, palletize, and stack;
  11. Assure proper stacking of all merchandise to ensure that damages are limited and product remains in good condition;
  12. Transport equipment during renovations, additions, and the building of new schools.
  13. Responsible for organizing and maintaining the warehouse;
  14. Train and supervise part-time/miscellaneous and temporary agency personnel as needed;
  15. Advise supervisor of persistent difficulties achieving the desired results in an effort to resolve any issues;
  16. Perform other duties as assigned.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT:

  1. Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, climb, push, pull, and reach for extended periods while performing warehouse and delivery duties;
  2. Ability to regularly lift, carry, move, load, and unload boxes, furniture, equipment, supplies, and other materials weighing up to approximately 50 pounds;
  3. Ability to safely operate material-handling equipment and assist with loading and unloading district vehicles;
  4. Ability to work both indoors and outdoors and in varying temperatures and weather conditions while making deliveries or completing assigned tasks;
  5. Ability to perform repetitive physical tasks associated with receiving, storing, organizing, assembling, and transporting materials;
  6. Ability to safely enter and exit delivery vehicles and move throughout warehouses, schools, offices, and other district facilities;
  7. Must be able to perform the essential physical functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.

REPORTS TO: Warehouse Coordinator
SALARY RANGE:  240-Day annual contract. Competitive salary and excellent benefits package, in accordance with the DCSS Compensation Guide.
