Job description

Position Summary
The Part-Time Agriculture Lab Technician supports instructional laboratory activities within the agriculture program by preparing materials, maintaining laboratory equipment, and assisting faculty and students during hands-on learning experiences. This position ensures that laboratory spaces, equipment, and supplies are organized, functional, and safe to support student success in agricultural education and applied learning environments.

Location: Ivy Tech Community College - South Bend
Department: Agriculture / Advanced Manufacturing & Applied Science
Employment Type: Part-Time

Compensation: $15.60-$17.00/hr (Based on experience)

Key Responsibilities:
Prepare laboratory materials, equipment, and supplies for agriculture courses andstudent activities.
Maintain and organize laboratory spaces, ensuring compliance with safetyprocedures and institutional policies.
Assist instructors with laboratory demonstrations and hands-on instructionalactivities.
Monitor and maintain laboratory equipment, tools, and agricultural technologysystems.
Support inventory management including ordering, receiving, and stockinglaboratory supplies.
Assist with greenhouse, field, or agricultural facility maintenance as needed.
Maintain records related to equipment usage, safety procedures, and laboratorypreparation.
Ensure proper storage, labeling, and disposal of agricultural materials in
accordance with safety standards.
Provide basic technical support to students working in the lab environment

Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
Ability to work in indoor laboratory environments and occasional outdooragricultural settings.
Ability to stand, bend, and move equipment as needed for laboratory preparation

Schedule
Part-time position, approximately 27 hours per week, depending on courseschedules and program needs.

Additional Information
This position plays an important role in supporting hands-on learning experiences thatprepare students for careers in agriculture, agribusiness, and agricultural technology.

Minimum Qualifications
Associate degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Agricultural Technology, or relatedfield OR equivalent industry experience.
Experience working with agricultural equipment, laboratory tools, or farm systems.
Ability to maintain a safe and organized laboratory environment.
Strong organizational and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting laboratory or technical training environments.
Familiarity with agricultural technologies such as precision agriculture tools,GPS/GIS systems, or data management software.
Experience with greenhouse operations, crop systems, or agricultural equipmentmaintenance.
Knowledge of laboratory safety standards and procedures.
