Department: Mosquito Control
Job Title: Mosquito Technician (Part-Time)
Hourly Pay Rate: $19.06
Location: 21845 Leonard, New Caney, TX 77357
Civil Service: Not Applicable
Shift Hours: Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm (Shift hours variable, occasional weekends, some evening hours as needed)
Education, Experience and Skill Requirements
• High School Diploma or G.E.D. required
• Valid Texas Driver's License
• Clean Driving Record
• Physically able to sit and drive for extended period of time
• Physically able to lift items over 30lbs.
• Physically able to work in outdoor conditions.
• Available to work variable hours
• Previous field work experience preferred
• Previous lab work experience preferred
• Previous entomology or public health experience preferred
  • Ability to work in person, not remote.

Primary Job Duties
• Conduct mosquito surveillance in the field.
• Identify and eliminate mosquito breeding sites and resting sites.
• Identify mosquitoes to species (training provided).
• Test mosquito samples for disease (training provided).
• Conduct vector control activities as required including evening spray missions and/or daytime larvicide application.
• Attend community events to educate residents about mosquitoes.
• Basic office duties that include: record keeping, mapping, data entry and interpretation.
• Other duties as assigned.
After receiving a conditional offer of employment, applicant must pass a drug screen (1/2 cost = $20.00, responsibility of applicant) and may need a physical agility test (1/2 cost = $22.50, responsibility of applicant) before becoming an employee of Montgomery County.
