Position Title: Source Inspector

Location: Carlsbad, CA

Job Type: Twice a month

Employment Type: VSC 1099 project specialist with LLC/DBA

Pay Range: $30-$35/hourly depending on certification(s)

Position Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Aerospace Quality Source Inspector to join our quality source inspection team, traveling to various supplier facilities to perform visual and dimensional inspections on manufactured parts, assemblies, and / or sub-assemblies.

. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical inspection, first article reviews (FAR), and a deep understanding of aerospace/defense standards and regulations. This role requires meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining the highest quality standards for our products and processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform mechanical inspections on aerospace components and assemblies to ensure compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, and industry standards.
  • Conduct First Article Inspections (FAI) in accordance with AS9102 standards.
  • Review and verify documentation, including quality plans, inspection records, and supplier certifications.
  • Identify non-conformances and work with internal teams and suppliers to resolve issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Use precision measuring tools and equipment such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM) to verify part dimensions.
  • Maintain thorough records of inspection results and communicate findings to relevant stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturing teams to ensure adherence to quality standards and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable aerospace quality standards, including AS9100 and ISO 9001.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Experience in mechanical inspection within the aerospace or related industry.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; technical degree or certification in quality assurance, mechanical engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Skills:
    • Proficient in interpreting engineering drawings, GD&T, and technical specifications.
    • Expertise in conducting first article reviews and AS9102 documentation.
    • Familiarity with AS9102 Rev C
    • Strong understanding of aerospace quality standards (AS9100, ISO 9001).
    • Skilled in using precision measuring tools and equipment;  such as micrometers, calipers, pin gauges, thread gauges height gauges, CMM, and hardness testers.
    • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Certifications: Certification in quality inspection or related fields (e.g., CQT, CQI) is highly desirable.
  • Other Requirements:
    • Ability to travel to supplier locations as needed.
    • Must be eligible to work in [Insert Country/Region].
    • Possess time management skills
    • Candidate must have and be willing to use personal cell phone and personal laptop to support inspection reporting requirements while onsite at supplier(s) facility.
    • Must be able to record inspection results while including detailed report of inspection efforts to provide customer with adequate documentation for receiving product.
      • Must be computer savvy and willing to use Verify Global web based email account while representing Verify
      • Must be Proficient using Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Ability to stand, walk, and move around manufacturing and inspection areas for extended periods.
    • Capability to lift and handle objects up to [Insert Weight] pounds as needed during inspections.
    • Fine motor skills for handling precision measuring tools and delicate components.
    • Adequate vision (with or without corrective lenses) to read detailed engineering drawings and perform close inspections.
    • Ability to work in manufacturing environments, including exposure to noise, dust, and temperature variations.
  • Verify Screenings:
    • Consent for Background Check (every 4 years)
    • Consent for Drug Screening, based on program requirements
    • Completed Eye Exam based on program requirements.
