What is a part time acupuncturist?

A part time acupuncturist is a healthcare professional who practices acupuncture—a form of traditional Chinese medicine involving the insertion of thin needles into specific points on the body—on a part-time basis. This typically means they work fewer hours than a full-time practitioner, often accommodating flexible schedules or working at multiple clinics. Part time acupuncturists assess clients, develop treatment plans, and help manage pain or other health conditions through acupuncture sessions. They must be licensed according to state or local regulations and often work alongside other healthcare providers. Many choose part time work for better work-life balance or to supplement other professional activities.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a part time acupuncturist, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Part Time Acupuncturist, you need a comprehensive understanding of traditional Chinese medicine, anatomy, and acupuncture techniques, typically supported by a relevant degree and state licensure. Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems, clean needle technique certification, and knowledge of regulatory compliance are also important. Strong interpersonal skills, empathy, and the ability to communicate treatment plans effectively help build trust and ensure client comfort. These competencies are essential for providing safe, effective treatments and fostering lasting patient relationships in a flexible, part-time setting.

What are some common challenges part-time acupuncturists face in balancing multiple workplaces or practices?

Part-time acupuncturists often work in several clinics or wellness centers to maintain a steady flow of clients, which can make scheduling and time management challenging. Coordinating appointments, travel time between locations, and adapting to different workplace cultures are common hurdles. Additionally, building strong patient relationships and maintaining continuity of care may require extra effort when not working full-time at a single practice. Effective communication and organizational skills are key to overcoming these challenges and ensuring high-quality patient care.

Winding Willow Acupuncture & Wellness is looking for a reliable, friendly, and responsible Front Desk & Clinic Assistant to join our small healthcare team.

This is a part-time position working every Saturday from 9:00 AM–4:00 PM, with the opportunity to pick up additional shifts when other front desk team members need coverage.

This is a great position for someone who enjoys working with people, keeping things organized, and being part of a calm, welcoming healthcare environment. No prior healthcare experience is required—we will train the right person.

What You'll Do:

Your primary responsibilities will be helping patients have a smooth experience when they arrive and keeping the clinic clean, organized, and ready for the next patient.

Responsibilities include:

  • Greet patients warmly and check them in and out
  • Answer phones and assist patients with basic questions
  • Schedule and reschedule patient appointments
  • Take patient payments and provide receipts
  • Confirm patient information and appointments
  • Use our scheduling, payment, and electronic health record systems
  • Communicate with practitioners and other front desk team members as needed
  • Keep the reception area, treatment areas and common areas clean, neat, and welcoming
  • Restock basic clinic & office supplies
  • Take out trash and recycling as needed
  • Water and care for the clinic's plants
  • Perform light cleaning and general upkeep throughout the clinic
  • Help with opening and closing tasks
  • Follow clinic procedures for patient privacy and confidentiality
  • Fill in for other front desk team members when needed, including occasional weekday shifts
  • Learn and follow new systems and procedures as they are introduced

What We're Looking For

The most important qualities for this position are reliability, willingness to learn, and a positive attitude.

You should:

  • Be dependable and consistently able to work your scheduled Saturday shift
  • Be comfortable interacting with patients in a friendly and professional manner
  • Be able to learn new computer systems and software
  • Be comfortable using a computer, phone, and payment system
  • Have good attention to detail
  • Be able to stay organized and complete routine tasks without supervision
  • Be comfortable working independently when the clinic is busy
  • Be willing to help with cleaning and general clinic upkeep
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with patients and coworkers
  • Respect patient privacy and confidentiality
  • Be comfortable asking questions when you are unsure of something
  • High School Diploma required

Previous customer service, reception, retail, or office experience is helpful but not required. We are willing to train the right person.

This position includes light physical work as part of maintaining the clinic.

You must be able to:

  • Stand and walk throughout the workday
  • Bend, reach, and perform routine cleaning and stocking tasks
  • Safely climb a small step ladder when needed
  • Lift and carry approximately 15–20 pounds
  • Perform light cleaning and clinic maintenance

Schedule:

Every Saturday: 9:00 AM–4:00 PM

Additional hours may occasionally be available when other front desk team members are out or need coverage. Saturday availability is required. We are looking for someone who can make this a consistent weekly commitment rather than someone looking for occasional Saturday work. This is an entry-level position with straightforward responsibilities and training provided.
