SUPERVISES: Student passengers NATURE AND SCOPE OF JOB: The Student Transportation Driver transports students in a safe and efficient manner and performs all activities related to the operation of school vehicles. The Driver adheres, without exception, to all traffic laws while driving any and all school property.

The Driver upholds the Mission of the school. QUALIFICATIONS: Hold and maintain a Valid California Driver's License (Commercial B preferred but not required), with no serious violations. Be a reliable person of good character who shall possess the qualifications and communication skills necessary to perform the duties of the position, and comply with the rules set forth for drivers in all federal, state and local regulations.

Have a minimum of five years previous safe driving experience. Have sufficient mechanical aptitude to recognize minor problems and report these problems. Have excellent integrity and demonstrate good moral character and initiative.

Exhibit positive interpersonal skills to relate well with students, staff, administration, parents and the community. Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing, using proper grammar and vocabulary. JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Drive school vans and transport students between pickup points and school or to various events, activities, and destinations.

Be in full charge of the van at all times and report unmanageable students to the Director of Facilities or available Administrator. Check and clean the van at end of shift. Check gas, battery, oil, and water before departure.

Check the vehicle for operational safety. Assist disabled students and others out of and into vehicles. Demonstrate knowledge of assigned routes and stops by actually driving the route an Requirements / Qualifications Valid California Drivers License, (Commercial B preferred but not required), with no serious violations.

Candidates must also provide a current negative TB test result or TB Risk Assessment Questionnaire, complete required training, and successfully complete Livescan fingerprinting. Employment is contingent upon obtaining fingerprint clearance from the California Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
