Dallas School District No. 2 is accepting applications for part-time (5.5-hours a day) Educational Assistansts-Special Needs III DLC. SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS: Must be over the age of 18 and have a high school diploma/GED, additionally must have knowledge of appropriate provisions of IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act), or the ability to rapidly acquire a working knowledge of such provisions.A broad written and verbal vocabulary is desired

Working knowledge of classroom behavioral management and positive behavior support is desired. Ability to deal in an empathetic manner with students who have learning and/or physical disabilities, and/or social/behavioral problems, and to deliver instructional programs to these students.Work effectively in an environment that can be both physically and emotionally fatiguing. Work with students who may exhibit aggressive, assaultive behavior as required by specific job assignment.Demonstrated ability to successfully work with students with emotional needs.Ability to effectively present information and respond to common inquiries from students

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and governmental regulations. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.Ability to complete physical requirements of kneeling, bending, reaching, sitting on chair/floor, walking, squatting, crawling, running, quick movements, and climbing stairs; perform physical job tasks. These physical demands may require the employee to move more than 100 pounds.Work effectively in a team situation / collaborative problem-solving strategies.Experience and/or capability to work with students in a school/community setting with vocational needs for transition age students

Work independently in the absence of direct teacher contact, to carry out the instructional program. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing, and maintain confidential information.Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school and two years' related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred. Prior successful experience working in a school setting or with students with special needs strongly preferred
