About Hy-Vee

At Hy-Vee, we believe the shortest distance between two people is a smile. We're seeking people with a passion for customer service, a willingness to learn, and a commitment to being part of a team that strives to make our customers' lives easier, healthier and happier.

The Role and Why It's Important

As a Stocker at Hy-Vee, you'll help keep our store shelves full, organized, and ready for customers throughout the day. From unloading trucks and rotating product to assisting customers and keeping the store tidy, your work has a direct impact on the shopping experience our customers count on every visit.

If you enjoy staying active, take pride in doing things right, and like being part of a team that keeps things running smoothly, this could be a great fit for you.

No two shifts are exactly the same, but here's what you can expect:

  • Deliver outstanding customer service by greeting customers warmly and helping them find what they need throughout the store

  • Assist customers with finding products, reaching items, carrying heavy purchases, and passing along any feedback or requests to the team

  • Unload trucks, open containers, stock shelves, run overstock on risers, and rotate product to ensure freshness

  • Monitor for mis-picked items, product outs, and wrong deliveries, and report issues accordingly

  • Organize stock for greatest efficiency and clean and restock any damaged items

  • Tag shelves with overstock in the back room and understock drawers

  • Report new or different items to the scanning coordinator for system input

  • Operate the register for customer purchases as needed

  • Stock supplies including cigarettes, front-end sacks, and department supplies

  • Assist with outside maintenance including shoveling snow, spreading ice melt, and returning carts

  • Help with cleaning throughout the store including registers, restrooms, breakroom, and backroom

  • Train new stockers on job duties as needed

  • Maintain compliance with Hy-Vee's dress code, hygiene standards, and all company policies

  • Assist in other store areas and take on special projects as needed

  • You'll receive direction and support from: Store Director, Store Manager, Assistant Managers of Store Operations, Perishables, and Health Wellness Home, and Service Managers

  • Follow written and verbal instructions with confidence

  • Use basic math skills, including fractions, decimals, and percentages

  • Communicate clearly with customers and teammates in a friendly, helpful way

  • Stay organized and keep up with the pace of a busy store environment

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; up to six months of similar or related experience preferred
