Title: University Supervisor (Clinical Observations)

Position Overview

North Park University's School of Education seeks a dedicated and experienced educator to serve as a University Supervisor for teacher candidates during their clinical practice (student teaching). This role is pivotal in bridging academic preparation with real-world classroom experience, ensuring candidates meet professional standards and are well-equipped for licensure and success in diverse educational settings.

Duties and Responsibilities

o    Observe and evaluate teacher candidates during their student teaching placements (typically 2-3 observations per candidate).

o    Provide constructive feedback and mentorship to support candidates' professional growth.

o    Collaborate with cooperating teachers and school administrators to ensure a supportive learning environment.

o    Conduct midterm and final evaluations using university rubrics and assessment tools.

o    Facilitate reflective conversations and goal-setting with teacher candidates.

o    Maintain accurate documentation of observations, evaluations, and communication.

o    Attend orientation sessions and periodic supervisor meetings hosted by the School of Education.

o    Uphold North Park University's mission and values, including its commitment to diversity, faith, and community engagement.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Master's degree in education or a related field (Doctorate preferred).
  • Experience with the Danielson Framework for Teaching, or the Illinois State Performance Evaluation
  • Valid teaching license and a minimum of 5 years of classroom experience.
  • Prior experience supervising or mentoring pre-service teachers strongly preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with edTPA, Danielson Framework, or similar evaluation models is a plus.
  • Commitment to culturally responsive teaching and equity in education.
