Job description

St. Michael Parish School is a dynamic K-8 school dedicated to inspiring, educating, and preparing our students for a Christ-centered life of learning, faith, and service. St. Michael Parish School is committed to promoting and maintaining an inclusive culture, enabling all students to perform and progress at their highest level.
St. Michael Parish School seeks a full-time Middle School ELA teacher for the 2026-27 school year. This is a full-time position with benefits and a competitive salary. This teacher reports directly to the Principal. 
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Middle School Humanities Teacher, reporting to the Principal, will join a collaborative team of colleagues to build a creative, engaging and student-centered learning environment, employing best practices for educating students in an inclusive setting. Specific responsibilities for this position include: 




  • Teach 6th grade theology and middle school ELA
  • Serve as a 6th grade homeroom teacher and member of a grade-level team
  • Differentiate instruction so as to meet the needs of a diverse learner population
  • Enjoy, appreciate, and understand the developmental nature of middle schoolers
  • Actively collaborate with colleagues to design curriculum, assessment and instructional practices in alignment with best practices to create innovative and equitable learning experiences for all students
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, colleagues, and school administrators

 
 DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Possession of a valid Washington State teaching certificate and experience in teaching middle school ELA.
  • Ability to engage students in meaningful and authentic learning experiences, with a belief that all students can learn and achieve at high levels.
  • Commitment to being a life-long learner, participating in ongoing professional development, and working in a teacher-driven, student-centered environment.
  • Experience using technology within the classroom and ability to provide high-quality instruction through differentiated instructional practices and data-driven decision-making.
  • Understanding and implementation of a positive classroom environment characterized by respect, joy, humor, and instructional excellence.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the age-appropriate needs of middle school students and commitment to teaching the whole child.
  • Practicing Catholic with enthusiasm about Catholic education and ability to work and communicate effectively with faculty, staff, students, and parents.
  • Proficiency in oral and written communication skills, exemplary organizational skills, and enthusiasm for promoting positive student-teacher-family relationships.
  • Commitment to inclusivity, working with a diverse student body including gifted students, those with special learning needs, and English language learners.
  • Strong and positive attitude towards student potential and academic excellence, coupled with the ability to meet and maintain punctuality and attendance expectations.

 
SALARY/BENEFITS
The range is $48,733 - $91,805. Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, applicant's skills and prior relevant experience, degrees, and certifications
