Overview / Responsibilities

Wood Geomatics is seeking a full time Geomatics Technologist located in either our Edmonton or Calgary office, that is either a licensed Geomatics Engineer, or a Senior Geomatics Technologist. With the support of Wood resources, you will be responsible for the processing of field data and the preparation of high-quality client deliverables related to various Transportation, Municipal and Oil and Gas projects.

To succeed in this role, the successful candidate will have a well-rounded background in the survey industry.

Working under the supervision of the Geomatics Discipline Lead, the primary responsibilities will include:

  • Processing of photogrammetric flight and image data, and the creation of high-quality client deliverables
  • Performing complex network adjustments for a variety of precision surveys
  • Real-time processing of precision deformation and/or monitoring surveys
  • The creation of standard cadastral and engineering survey products
  • Providing quality assurance and quality control of end results
  • Maintaining professional communications with internal and external clients
  • Calculating/ checking parcel boundaries, construction layouts, control networks in a wide variety of markets
  • Contributing to quality management system creation, and continuing quality maintenance efforts.

Skills / Qualifications
  • Diploma or Degree in Geomatics Engineering Technology or B.Sc. in Geomatics
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a project delivery or quality management role
  • Other civil professional designations will be considered an asset
  • Strong computer skills with experience in related software (Trimble Business Centre, MicroSurvey, Civil3D, ArcGIS, Agisoft, Maptech, and Leica Cyclone all considered an asset)
  • Proficient with UAV and 3D Laser Scanning Equipment and software for data processing, point clouds, and 3D modeling
  • Basic or Advanced UAV / drone pilot license considered an asset
  • Experience in precision spatial monitoring and deformation analysis considered an asset
  • Excellent work ethic, resourcefulness, and time management skills
  • Field work may be required to fulfill primary responsibilities
  • Commitment to comply with Wood's safety policies and procedures
  • Valid, unrestricted Class 5 driver's license with clean abstract.
