Location:
Tanque Verde Elementary School
Tanque Verde Unified School District is seeking a Kinder Paraprofessionals for Tanque Verde Elementary School. These positions are 25 hours per week. We are seeking applicants who have flexibility, are a team player, and have an understanding of students with special needs. Experience working with primary school children in an educational setting preferred.
Performs instructional duties in the classroom and assists teaching staff and will work with children with disabilities. May perform all duties required of aide positions according to the schedule set by the site.
Examples of Duties:
-Discusses assigned teaching area with classroom teacher to coordinate instructional efforts.
- Assists students, individually or in groups, with lesson assignments to present or reinforce learning concepts under the guidance of the teacher.
- Provides instruction for a number of students, utilizing a variety of methods and techniques such as lecture, discussion, and supervised role-playing, under the guidance of the teacher.
- Makes adaptations to material and instructions under the guidance of the teacher.
- Ensure safety of the student and be aware of and attentive to the medical needs of the student.
- Escorts special need students and relieve other aides for breaks.
- Performs data collection as directed.- Monitors students and advises on appropriate behavior.
- Ability to lift at least 50 lbs.
- May feed students meals, snacks and drinks.
- Monitors digestive process in students to ensure there is no choking.
- May perform other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of CPR and first aid techniques.
- Skill in developing activities to enhance child development.
- Skill in working with children.
- Ability to read and interpret important documents such as reference manuals, etc.
- Ability to write correspondence that is grammatically correct.
- Ability to maintain composure and to manage stressful situations.
- Ability to calculate figures and perform mathematical applications such as discounts, proportions, percentages, etc.
- Ability to work effectively on a computer in word processing and database management environments.
- Ability to lift at least 50 lbs.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be Highly Qualified according to most current Arizona Department of Education requirements.
- One year of instructional aide or related experience preferred.
- Current certification in CPR and First Aid.
- Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education as approved by the district.
Starting pay is $15.15 per hour.
