Job description

Paramedic

The purpose of this position is to respond to emergency situations and provide skilled emergency and non-emergency services in a variety of areas including emergency medical and rescue operations, advanced medical assistance, directing ambulance and first responders in patient care services, mentoring, training, quality improvement, public education, and recruitment. The incumbent would provide supervision and care of patients in the pre-hospital environment including the utilization of monitor/defibrillators, numerous medications, endotracheal intubation, IV therapy, and other associated tasks; perform critical basic and advanced life support procedures according to medical protocol; and perform independently in situations involving both basic and advanced life support activities.

Essential duties include directing subordinates, administering basic and advanced life support, safely operating emergency ambulances, attending classes, assisting in rescue operations, communicating with medical personnel, reporting incidents, ensuring safety, maintaining confidentiality, performing maintenance duties, and conducting oneself professionally.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, successful completion of an accredited paramedic program, state certification, valid driver's license, and various certifications. Additional qualifications for MICU Paramedics include two years of paramedic experience, adherence to state protocols, participation in continuing education, and neonatal resuscitation certification.

Patient centered care and behavioral expectations involve living the Genesis mission, vision, and values, promoting patient and employee safety, and demonstrating safe handling and materials handling practices.

Working conditions and physical requirements include the ability to sit, stand, push, pull, bend, and walk for extended periods, lifting and moving various weights, and maintaining vision abilities.
