Job description

Critical Care Paramedic

The roles and responsibilities of the Critical Care Paramedic include personal safety and the safety of others, patient assessment and emergency care; safe lifting and moving, patient transport and transfer, record keeping and data collection, and patient advocacy. A Critical Care Paramedic must demonstrate leadership qualities; play a role in mentoring by teaching and providing feedback to other Paramedics/EMT's. Must be qualified to care for high acuity patients while demonstrating exceptional patient care skills. Must have the ability to effectively communicate with physicians and other agencies/departments.

Education: Current Alabama license as a Critical Care Paramedic. FPC/CCP-C, ACLS, PALS, BLS, BTLS/PHTLS

Experience: 3 years as a licensed Paramedic. 1 year as a primary care provider in the pre-hospital environment

Additional Skills/Abilities: capable of working overtime as required; flexible to scheduling to meet the department and hospital staffing needs. Available for on-call when required. Possess knowledge of, or the ability to gain, skills necessary to administer care under critical care protocols and guidelines established by the medical director and/or the ADPH. This includes, but not limited to, specialized equipment, advanced medications, intubation, IV and intraosseous access, advanced cardiac monitoring, complex ventilator management, providing dynamic patient assessments, radiology interpretation, rapid decision making and planning.
