The Accountant within the Finance Shared Center (FSC) team is responsible for performing a variety of accounting tasks to support the centralized finance operations. This role ensures accurate and timely processing of financial transactions, compliance with internal controls, supports month-end and year-end close activities. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, collaborative, and thrives is a fast-paced environment.
Accountant responsibilities include the following:
  • Must follow Ahlstroms manufacturing and hygiene processes, procedures and policies, as applicable, to the position's areas of responsibility, in order to meet and maintain the safety, quality, and regulatory compliance requirements for each grade of paper.
  • Process and reconcile general ledger entries, journal entries, and intercompany transactions.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures including accruals and account reconciliations.
  • Supports accounts payable and accounts receivable functions as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards (GAAP/IFRS), and internal controls.
  • Prepare financial reports and analysis for internal stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve discrepancies and improve processes.
  • Maintain documentation for audits and support audit requests.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiative within the FSC.
  • Record, monitor and track fixed assets
  • IFRS 16 - Track leases in Fatman and provide monthly reporting

Education and experience requirements include:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting required
  • Strong GAAP skills required, familiarity with IFRS a plus
  • Previous accounting experience
  • Paper industry or manufacturing experience desired
  • Strong analytical, financial systems, and communication skills
  • Specific knowledge of financial systems: JDE & SAP (experience strongly preferred but not required), HFM, Fatman and Microsoft office tools
  • Advanced Excel skills preferred
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
