Join the Kaytee team in Chilton, WI! Help produce quality products for birds, rabbits, hamsters, and other small animals in a clean, team-oriented manufacturing environment. Kaytee is hiring a 2nd Shift 3 Class Machine Operator Level I. In this role, you will set up and operate machines, palletizers, and scales while helping ensure safe, efficient production.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Accurately mix ingredients according to specific formulas and delivering these mixes to the proper packaging bins.
  • Ensure accurate mixing, both visually and through quality assurance checks.
  • Schedule and plan mixing operations to meet production schedule.
  • Maintain communication between Line Leaders, Mill Operators, and Shift Supervisor.
  • Record all inventory transactions by accurately completing RF scanner functions and paperwork.
  • Maintain work area in a clean and orderly fashion.
  • Understand and know the goals and objectives of the department.
  • Comply with all safety rules and company policies.
  • Other tasks assigned by supervisor.
  • Responsible for reporting any Food Safety issues to authorized personnel for correction.

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • High school diploma preferred.
  • The ability to lift up to 50+ pounds with frequent bending, lifting and twisting.
  • Must have proficient math skills.
  • Ability to operate forklift and handcart in a safe manner.
  • Ability to work independently in an efficient and accurate manner.
  • Ability to operate an RF scanner device.
  • Must have the ability to lift up to 100 lbs. occasionally (with assistance).
  • Must have the ability to bend, twist, turn and climb.
  • Possess solid organizational skills.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed.
  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.

WORKING CONDITIONS 

  • Work is performed in a manufacturing/warehouse environment.
  • Work temperatures can vary due to outside temperatures.
  • Hours of work will generally be during regular business hours (on each respective shift) and average at least 40 hours a week.
  • There may be some variation in work hours due to overtime, special projects, deadlines, and other concerns.
