Gerhart is looking for a Control Panel Technician to join our team. In this position the selected candidate will work in-house and occasionally at customer sites with a strong focus on assembling and testing electrical control and power panels to meet the expectations of the customer’s needs.


What You’ll Do:

  • Assemble electrical control panels.
  • Complete point to point wiring, and install a wide variety of electronic and electro-mechanical components (of a non-repetitive nature).
  • Ability to work off schematics, written and verbal instructions. May have to determine the method and sequence of assembly operations.
  • Read drawings, blueprints, electrical schematics and wiring diagrams. Use good judgment when dimensions or tolerances seem inconsistent or unworkable. Mark up drawings and bills of material to document the "as built" final product.
  • Perform necessary hand operations such as deburring, drilling, grinding & sawing.
  • Operate lift trucks and hand pallet jacks to move material within facility.
  • ·Utilize small hand tools such as wire strippers, crimpers, wrenches, screwdrivers, pliers and soldering irons.
  • Utilize power tool safety using the appropriate PPE.
  • Complete point to point continuity test for control panel.
  • Complete panel testing using provided software and written procedure.
  • Perform panel retrofit and/or modification at customer’s sites when needed.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and management.
  • Execute additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

What You Bring:

  • AS / BS degree in a technical related field with Hands on experience in building electrical panels.
  • Excellent in following written and verbal instructions.
  • Familiarity with OSHA regulations for a safety work environment.
  • Proficient with Multimeter usage for electrical circuits troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity (entry level knowledge) with various software programs used in Automation / controls.
  • Strong Knowledge of making / testing communication cables such as Ethernet, Serial, 4-20 loops, etc...
