RN - Labor & Delivery/Postpartum

  • About Facility:
    • 8800 N. Tryon St., Charlotte, NC 28262
    • 130 Licensed Beds
    • Stroke Center
    • Radius rule: Traveler’s permanent address must be 50 miles outside of home unit
  • Unit Information:
    • See ~1500 patients per year. 
    • 29 beds
    • 1 OR suite
    • Minimum Years of Experience required? 2 years of LDRP exp
    • Will you accept a first-time traveler? No
  • Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:
    • LDRP – common high-risk diagnoses seen: PPH, Diabetics requiring insulin gtts, PROM, placenta previa, etc.
    • GYN surgical – commonly seen: hysterectomy
  • Patient Ratios:
    • RN: Acuity based
    • CNA: 1-3 per shift, 1 is usually a ST
  • Required License, National Certification, Certs (BLS, ACLS, etc.), or other position specific requirements such as Driver's License and/or Insurance:
    • RN: BLS, ACLS, EFM, NRP – Required

NCC-EFM or RNC-OB preferred.

  • Skills required: Must have the skillset to work LDRP
    • RN: Experience with the all aspects of LDRP patient care, circulating c-sections, experience with newborn care to include heel sticks, 24 hr testing, NAS scoring, lactation support
  • Support within the Department:
    • OB Tech – 1 per shift
    • CAN/ST – 1-3 per shift
    • Receptionist/HUC – patient registration, visitor mgmt. and unit secretary duties
    • Charge nurse
    • Case Manager 
    • RT 24/7
    • Hospitalist or OB Physician, 24/7
    • OB Physicians – 2 OB practices 
    • Pediatrician
    • Lactation Consultants
    • No remote Tele Monitoring
  • Technology/Equipment:
    • EMR: EPIC
    • IV Pump: Alaris
    • Med dispensing: Omnicell
    • Monitors: Phillips
    • GE Corometrics Fetal Monitors; GE Panda Warmer
  • Floating:
    • Within region and scope of practice
    • Will be required to float per region needs – will require floating to all facilities listed below, as needed, within scope of practice – DECLINE if not agreeable
      • Region 1 - Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, Central Division (CMC Main + Mercy + LCH (peds only) -- could float to any of the facilities within region if the need arises
      • If floating mid-shift, Traveler will be paid for the time traveling between facilities (will remain on the clock)
  • Scheduling:
    • RTO: Can approve up to 6 days off, excluding holidays – must add time to the end of the contract if unable to meet contracted hours
    • Shift times: 7a-7p; 7p-7a
    • Schedule cycle: every 6 weeks
  • Other notes:
    • Scrub Color: Navy Blue scrubs or business casual to/from work; hospital issued scrubs while at work
