Job description

Job Title: Forklift Operator

Job Description

This role focuses on safely operating a standing counterbalance forklift to pick, move, and load products within a well-organized warehouse environment. The forklift operator uses RF scanners and warehouse management systems to accurately process orders, loads trucks, and occasionally supports walk-in customers by locating and preparing their orders. The position also involves basic computer work, including data entry, email communication with clients, and maintaining accurate inventory records.

Responsibilities

  • Operate a standing counterbalance forklift (Crown dockstocker) to move, pick, and stage products throughout the warehouse.
  • Use an RF scanner to accurately pick and track products and ensure all orders are processed correctly.
  • Load products onto trucks in a safe and efficient manner, following all warehouse and safety procedures.
  • Support occasional walk-in customers by communicating with them, locating their orders, and ensuring accurate and timely pickup.
  • Log order and inventory information into the computer system, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Communicate with clients via email to confirm orders, resolve issues, and provide status updates as required.
  • Handle general material handling tasks, including palletizing, moving inventory, and organizing products in high racking.
  • Use pallet jacks and other warehouse equipment to move materials safely within the facility.
  • Assist with shipping and receiving activities, including checking incoming and outgoing products for accuracy.
  • Operate a skid wrapping machine to secure pallets and prepare loads for shipment.
  • Follow all warehouse safety policies, procedures, and best practices to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Collaborate with a small warehouse team to meet daily productivity goals and support overall operations.
  • Use basic computer applications, such as email and Excel, to complete daily tasks and communicate with team members and clients.

Essential Skills

  • At least 1 year of experience operating a Crown standing counterbalance forklift (dockstocker).
  • Current or recent Crown forklift certification for standing counterbalance equipment.
  • Proficiency using RF scanners for order picking and inventory management.
  • Hands-on experience with order picking in a warehouse environment.
  • Demonstrated computer aptitude, including experience with email and basic Excel functions.
  • Knowledge of warehouse management activities such as picking, loading, shipping, and receiving.
  • Experience operating stand-up forklifts and pallet jacks in a warehouse setting.
  • Strong English communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact with customers, clients, and team members.

Work Environment

The role is based in a well-lit, temperature-controlled warehouse with approximately ten aisles of high racking. The facility stores structural connectors, anchoring systems, fasteners, and similar materials commonly used in outdoor construction projects. You will work with standing counterbalance forklifts (Crown dockstocker), RF scanners, pallet jacks, skid wrapping machines, and computer systems, including email, Excel, and warehouse management tools. The schedule runs Monday to Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., providing consistent daytime hours in a clean, organized, and safety-focused environment.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Calgary, AB.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $23.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
