What is a painting helper?

Painting Helpers are workers who assist professional painters in preparing surfaces, mixing paints, setting up equipment, and cleaning up after painting jobs. They may also help move furniture, cover floors and fixtures, and handle other routine tasks to ensure the project runs smoothly. While they may not perform detailed painting work themselves, their support is essential for efficient and high-quality results.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a painting helper, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Painting Helper, you need basic knowledge of surface preparation, paint application techniques, and adherence to safety standards, often gained through on-the-job training. Familiarity with common painting tools such as brushes, rollers, sanders, and sometimes spray equipment is typically required. Attention to detail, reliability, and the ability to follow instructions are essential soft skills that make someone stand out in this position. These skills ensure high-quality work, maintain safety, and contribute to efficient project completion in painting environments.

What are some typical challenges a painting helper might encounter on the job?

Painting Helpers often face challenges such as working in varying environmental conditions, managing time-sensitive projects, and ensuring surfaces are properly prepared before painting. They may also need to handle heavy equipment and materials, follow strict safety protocols, and adapt to rapidly changing priorities based on the needs of the painting team. Effective communication and close collaboration with lead painters are essential for overcoming these challenges and ensuring high-quality results.

Painting helpers typically earn between $12 and $20 per hour, depending on experience, location, and the complexity of the job. Entry-level positions may pay closer to the lower end, while experienced helpers or those working in high-cost areas can earn higher wages. Overtime and bonuses may also be available for additional compensation.

How to become a painting helper?

To become a painting helper, no formal education is typically required, but experience with painting tools and techniques is beneficial. Job description

***This position is located in Vass, NC***

Can you make new wood look like ancient stone? Can you turn a simple prop into a mysterious, weathered artifact with just your artistic skill? Join our team of painters and you'll receive all the training you need to succeed.

JADE Solutions is looking for a talented Scenic Artist to join our creative workshop. In this role, you are more than a painter; you are a storyteller. You will be responsible for creating the atmosphere, mood, and realism of our escape room products through expert painting, texturing, and finishing. This is a hands-on artistic role where your work directly transforms our sets and props into immersive, believable worlds for thousands of players to experience.

If you are a talented artist who loves to bring stories to life through color and texture, we want to see your work. Apply today and help us paint our next great adventure!

Your Mission as Our Creative Illusionist:

  • Create Believable Worlds: Your primary mission is to bring our props to life, from aged wood and rusted metal to stone, marble, and other magical effects.

  • Refine and Perfect: Use a variety of hand and power tools like sanders and a Dremel to shape, distress, and prepare surfaces, ensuring every piece has the perfect look and feel before the final coat.

  • Be a Studio Collaborator: Work alongside our builders and creative team to bring a cohesive vision to life. You'll manage your time effectively to meet deadlines and help maintain a clean, safe, and inspiring workshop.

Your Skills & Experience (The Artistic Toolkit You Bring):

We are looking for a skilled artist with a portfolio and a passion for thematic work.

Your Artistic Foundation:

  • Experience in a creative painting field such as: scenic painting for theater or film, historical restoration work, or museum exhibit finishing. [A portfolio showcasing your painting, texturing, and faux finishing skills is highly encouraged]

Your Technical Palette:

  • Mastery of various faux finishing techniques (aging, distressing, wood graining, stone/marble effects)

  • Proven ability to mix paints to match specific color recipes and standards

  • Proficiency with a wide range of tools: brushes, rollers, sponges, sanders, Dremel, etc.

  • A deep ability to balance creative expression with production deadlines and build times

Bonus Points If You Have:

  • Direct experience painting for escape rooms, theme parks, or other immersive entertainment venues

  • Experience with HVLP (High Volume, Low Pressure) spraying equipment

Job Details & Perks:

  • Job Type: Full-Time or Part-Time, Permanent

  • Pay Rate: Starting at $16 - $18, depending on experience

  • Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM

  • Overtime: Potential for overtime paid at time and a half

  • Location: This is an on-site position at our workshop. [Our workshop is located at 140 Seaboard St., Vass, NC, 28394]

Benefits Package:

  • Monthly Health Care Contribution: $1000.00 family, $300 individual (Full-Time Only)

  • Paid Time Off & Paid Sick Leave (Full-Time Only)

  • Hands-On Experience – Build your skills in a professional workshop creating products seen by thousands of players across the country

JADE Solutions LLC is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We hire based on skill, creativity, and teamwork.
