Electro-Mechanical & Robotics Technician (EMT)
The Electro-Mechanical & Robotics Technician (EMT) reports to the AME & Maintenance Manager and is responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting manufacturing equipment in an automotive production environment. This role ensures the reliability and uptime of machinery through preventive maintenance, advanced diagnostics, and robotics programming, while also supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities (include, but are not limited to):
  • Program, debug, and maintain industrial robots and associated systems, including end-of-arm tooling, SRPs, tool changers, fluid dispensing, hemming, MIG welding, drawn-arc welding, and vision systems.
  • Perform installation, dismantling, repair, and maintenance of machinery and equipment to meet operational specifications and tolerances.
  • Execute preventive and predictive maintenance using appropriate tools, instruments, and techniques to ensure equipment reliability.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Interpret blueprints, schematics, technical manuals, and diagrams to determine repair and troubleshooting methods.
  • Test and validate electromechanical systems using diagnostic equipment such as oscilloscopes and voltmeters.
  • Analyze equipment failures and prepare or review repair cost estimates and work plans.
  • Support decision-making on part replacement versus repair and estimate job timelines.
  • Manage and track work orders through established maintenance systems; define scope and estimate labor for work requests.
  • Maintain spare parts inventory, including monitoring stock levels and coordinating procurement to ensure availability.
  • Prepare purchase requisitions and follow procurement procedures for maintenance-related materials and equipment.
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, and maintenance teams to develop and execute preventive maintenance schedules.
  • Develop and implement inspection processes to sustain an effective preventive maintenance program.
  • Train production personnel on routine maintenance procedures and equipment care.
  • Prepare and maintain maintenance schedules, logs, and technical reports.
  • Analyze maintenance data to identify trends and opportunities for process improvement.
  • Provide technical support and share expertise to enhance team capabilities.
  • Maintain compliance with all safety procedures, regulations, and company policies.
  • Support and maintain a wide range of automation and facility systems, including but not limited to:
    • Fanuc and ABB robots
    • Conveyors and AGVs/AGCs
    • Paint shop systems (HVAC units, ovens, chillers, dryers)
    • Welding equipment (MIG, stud, SPR)
    • Sealer systems, compressors, trunnions, and VFD drives
    • Electrical cabinets and vehicle testing equipment
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Robotics, Automation, or a related field OR a technical certification, journeyman designation (e.g., electrician, tool and die, machine repair) OR equivalent hands-on experience with 5+ years of experience in industrial maintenance, robotics, or manufacturing environments.
  • 4-7 years of experience in machine controls, electrical systems, toolmaking, or equipment repair within automotive, aerospace, or a related manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on experience with industrial robotics (e.g., Fanuc, ABB) and automated systems.
  • Strong understanding of preventive and predictive maintenance practices.
  • Ability to operate and troubleshoot industrial machinery and technical equipment.
  • Knowledge of safety standards and regulatory requirements in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in analyzing data and preparing technical reports.
  • Experience with SAP or similar maintenance management systems.
  • Familiarity with Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001:2015) and Environmental Management Systems (ISO 14001:2015).

Work Environment The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing their job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will spend approximately 20% (excluding breaks and meal periods) of time in an office environment and 80% of the time on the Manufacturing Floor. When working on the Shop Floor, it requires the use of personal protective equipment, including (but not limited to) steel toe shoes, bump caps, safety goggles, and reflective colored vest.

Compensation:
$37.00/per hour - $44.00/per hour. Compensation will vary DOE.
