Job description:
Surface Combustion is a world leader in designing, manufacturing, and marketing of rugged and reliable thermal processing systems. These are custom systems, assembled by hand in Waterville, Ohio. Although the position is not typical maintenance position, those working in the maintenance or custom machine assembly fields are encouraged to apply. Our equipment is assembled by hand based on the specific needs of the customer. There are no assembly lines or robotics in this process.
Responsibilities and Duties
  • Master the use of hand and power tools
  • Work may require extensive periods of standing, bending, stretching, lifting, and reaching.
  • Be proficient in wielding processes; read electrical prints & layouts, read piping prints (two-lined & isometric); read mechanical prints; read and understand suppliers' instructions
  • Employees uses initiative in conducting recurring assignments to fabricate and assemble products by using drawings, sketches, and verbal direction
  • Must be proficient in some forms of process and tack wielding; basic electrical skills including lay out and mount conduit and pull & terminate wire; lay out, cut & thread, and mount piping systems; set and align motors, pumps, other mechanical components etc.; lay out, set, level & align furnace drive systems.
  • Employees will be required to use overhead cranes and fork trucks to set up and/or move equipment. Will assist in loading and unloading equipment
  • Perform jobsite installations as part of a field team and as a team leader
  • Assist in the training of less skilled or less experienced mechanics as directed by plant management
  • Perform other duties and functions as required.
