A Paint Protection Film (PPF) Installer is responsible for applying a clear, durable film to vehicles to protect them from scratches, chips, and other damage. This role involves measuring, cutting, and expertly applying the film to ensure a seamless, bubble-free finish. Installers must have strong attention to detail, steady hands, and experience working with automotive surfaces. They may also need to remove and replace film if necessary. The job often requires working in dealerships, specialty shops, or directly with car owners.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a paint protection film installer?

To thrive as a Paint Protection Film Installer, you need strong attention to detail, manual dexterity, and experience handling automotive surfaces, often supported by a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with cutting and application tools, heat guns, squeegees, and sometimes certification from film manufacturers are common technical requirements. Excellent customer service, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team are valuable soft skills. These abilities ensure precise installations, customer satisfaction, and efficient workflow in a fast-paced automotive environment.

What are some common challenges faced by paint protection film installers on the job?

Paint Protection Film Installers often encounter challenges such as ensuring a flawless, bubble-free application on complex vehicle surfaces and working within tight deadlines while maintaining quality standards. Some vehicles have intricate curves or bodylines that demand advanced techniques and experience. Despite these challenges, many installers find satisfaction in delivering a high-quality finish and seeing customers' positive reactions. Job description

Job Profile: Paint Protection Film Installer
Job description:
Considering a career with Ken Garff Automotive Group means you are in for a great ride (excuse the car metaphor)! We're not your standard dealership or group of dealerships and we are pretty darn proud of that. We are out to do things differently and want to consistently change, grow, and progress. For that reason, our employees are proud of where they work!
Ferrari of Salt Lake City, a Ken Garff Automotive Dealership, is currently looking for a Paint Protection Film (PPF) and Tint Installer that aligns with our core values and acts with Respect, Integrity, Growth, Humility and Teamwork.
Looking for:
• Accommodating and analytical, while producing highly precise and accurate work
• Resourceful and seeks a high level of technical expertise
• Unselfish and approachable with a preference for detailed, skill-based work
• Knowledge of basic vehicle systems and technical resources a plus
• Must be 18 years or older and be authorized to work in the U.S with a valid in-state driver's license and a good driving record, per company standards
• High School Diploma or equivalent
Why you'll love working with us:
• Competitive compensation package and 401k with company match
• Wellness Time Off, plus holidays, plus a Personal Purpose Day
• Medical, Dental, Vision, Disability Insurance, AD&D and Life Insurance
• Flex Spending, Health Savings Account, EAP, Wellness Plan, Mental Health Support,
• Diabetes Management Program, and Parental Leave Stipend
• Year-end bonus program for ALL employees (Garff Giveback)
• Employee discounts on vehicle purchase, parts, service and more!
What you'll do as a PPF/Tint Installer:
• Install paint protection film (PPF) and Window Tine with precision to ensure a clean, high-quality finish.
• Prepare and detail vehicle surfaces so the film applies smoothly and looks seamless.
• Use proper techniques and tools for custom fits.
• Inspect completed installs to confirm durability, alignment, and overall appearance.
• Maintain an organized workspace, follow safety procedures, and support team members when needed.
At first glance, there's nothing remarkable at Ken Garff. Our uniforms aren't flashy, and our buildings look a lot like the competition. You may not see it right at first, but if you listen, you'll hear. Because listening isn't just something we do; it's part of who we are. It's how we show that what we absolutely value the most (far more than buildings, uniforms or cars) is our people. And we thrive on treating them right. We listen because we believe listening matters. We're just different that way. Will you join Ken Garff Ferrari as a new PPF Installer?
