Job description

Perform all Paint Prep job duties, responsibilities and requirements.

Taking care to ensure that parts are prepped according to the company’s and customer’s specifications in order to achieve the cosmetics grade required after paint.

Ensure parts are prepped and cleaned per Company standards to achieve excellent paint adhesion

Follow written masking instructions

Work with the Engineering Team to develop optimum masking processes on new products.

Training other operations on improvements.


High school diploma, GED, or equivalent. Preferred


Consider content experts in their field.

Set-up and operate multiple processes and or machines in the employee’s immediate department.

Ability to problem solve issues that arise that require immediate understanding of what the problem is and how to stop it from happening.

Ability to understand and contribute to a long term fix of problems that arise.

Minimizing the risk of injury before it happens or preventing future events.

Minimizing the risk of defects before they occur or preventing future defects.

Flexible to work in other areas when needed.

Possess a basic understanding of the various oscillation types

Ability to identify grit ratings.

Ability to read, understand, and follow the information included in the detailed paint process instructions (DPPI) and/or Epicor comments.

Ability to execute paint prep practices including concealing hardware with the use of bondo to achieve Class A cosmetics after paint.

Possesses advanced grinding/sanding skills.

Ability to perform adhesion testing, and powder coat cure testing.

Ability to provide constructive feedback regarding possible process improvements / discrepancies.

Must always use the required PPE when on the job.

Must always take safety into consideration when on the job.
