Job description

Description

  • Maintain accurate counts of all      paint products, from liquid coatings to powdered coatings, using our      inventory system.
  • Receive, inspect, log and process      documentation for all incoming shipments-verifying color codes, batch      numbers, color/gloss verification against master color panel using visual      and color measuring equipment, expiration dates and receiving paperwork.
  • Organize and label paint stock      for easy access, ensuring product is properly stored to maintain quality      and accessibility
  • Track usage and reorder levels,      generating purchase requests before supplies run low.
  • Collaborate with production teams      to prepare paint orders for upcoming jobs as well as accurately reporting      usage.
  • Conduct regular cycle counts      (daily/monthly) and reconcile discrepancies with purchasing/accounting      teams
  • Make determinations for      disposition of aged/expired paints
  • Maintain and provide current      color samples for production line QC 
  • Archive all production and      quality documents for reference
  • Maintain color samples for all      customers and colors to include the following: 
    • Color samples to be matched, 
    • Color samples supplied by       vendors, 
    • Color samples approved by       customers, 
    • Tracking of color matching for       all customer samples, 
    • Coordinating color matches with       Sales
    • Ordering and submitting color       samples to customers and/or Inside/Outside Sales
  • Following new orders that are      input, daily, to plan for upcoming paint needs, operating within the lead      time for each order to ensure on-time delivery to our customer, while      accounting for all current orders in process
  • Work with paint vendors to      determine paint purchase quantities for best pricing available and      maintaining "stocked" colors as deemed appropriate
  • Initially, submitting paint needs      to Purchasing for processing, but will eventually plan to handle this      function as well
  • Track all paint shipments and      deliveries to insure on-time performance and eliminate production delays
  • Archiving all paint-related      documents for every color and specification - Technical Data Sheets,      Product Data Sheets, etc.
  • Working on the shop floor to do      inventories, verification and follow up as needed
  • Maintain "Color Presentation"      area in Paint Lab for customer viewing
  • Order and maintain operating      supplies for Paint Departments
  • Submit environmental reporting      data to proper EHS contacts
  • Assist with various departmental      activities, when requested by Supervisor
  • Typically, 6 AM to 3 PM workday,      Monday through Friday
  • Follow all safety protocols for      handling and storing paint and related materials

What You'll Bring

  • Experience in inventory control,      warehouse operations, or materials management-paint or coatings experience      a big plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and      accuracy, especially when working with product codes, batch numbers and      usage quantities.
  • Familiarity with inventory      software (e.g., EPICS, or similar) and basic Excel skills (the stronger,      the better).
  • Ability to lift and move paint      containers (up to 50 lbs) and work in a warehouse environment.
  • A proactive mindset-spotting      potential shortages or issues before they become problems.
  • Commitment to safety and proper      handling of chemical products.
  • Operating, or the ability to      learn to operate, the following:
    • Color measurement equipment
    • Gloss measurement equipment
    • Paint storage and handling       equipment (Vertical Lift Machine, etc.)
  • Knowledge, or the ability to      learn, color and gloss measuring theory and nomenclature
  • Ability to communicate      effectively and professionally with Customers, Sales, Suppliers and other      departments - in-person as well as by phone, text and email.
